HIStory

I remember it
just like it was yesterday,
sitting, listening.
Mr. Kern telling HIStory,
Jesus's story.
How He came
out of love
and He died
for me.

Somewhere along the way
I forgot that story.
It was like I never heard it.
I was lost.
I punched things,
hard things.
Put a dent in the hood of my Monte Carlo,
a visual reminder of my anger
my pain.

In the arms of a stranger
I learned of Jesus' love
once again.
That one hug
was all it took.
That one hug brought me back
to Him.
If I feel like I am about to slip
all I need is a solid grip
a hug from the no long stranger
but friend.
