Mars Hammer

Trying to see the sun through a solar eclipse
Fear and panic spread like a lunar ellipse
I resist it like a skeptic who’s afraid of rejection
But it’s slowly ending me like a focal infection

Ataraxic mercenary
Diazepam apothecary
Crystal method missionary
Bupropion obituary

This blood feud vendetta is like a plebeian elitist
This vocal rapture smiles like a cocaine defeatist
It’s a hammer driving nails and screws into my skin
Nothing’s going to save me from the war within

Powerful poem! Good use of rhyme and imagery to convey your thoughts. Really like how you closed this piece because addicts truly have a "war within." Keep on writing!!! Karen
