Diet Demon

One day, on a sudden whim,
I started a sponsored slim
In an effort to get me trim
And raise funds, for our ‘Hospice’ of much renown
Things were going good,
I was doing what I should
By eating healthy food
But there was one thing, which always let me down
This was the evil demon drink
And wine was my armours chink
Straight down the kitchen sink
It should have went, if truth be known
Not satisfied with just one glass,
I’d drink each drop, until the last
Then hunger struck and I’d break my fast
Guilt, the next day, would make me frown
When I stepped on the scales,
And saw to no avail
My slimming quest had failed
I felt I’d betrayed my cause and let people down
This led me to proclaim
This day, from wine I will abstain
So pounds I’ll lose, not to regain
And raise the funds for our ‘Hospice’ of much renown.

Great writing, Janette. Good for you on the wine decision. Did you succeed? Are you still dieting? Do you need a dieting partner? I do. Lovingly, Dane Ann

Enjoyed your telling of how you learned to diet, by getting rid of that drink!! Hope you can stick to it. I have tried off and on for several years now. After 50, the game changes. What I used to do no longer works. . I reduce my calories and still nothing happens.REally depressing!! Luv, Andrea

Hi Jannette. Thanks fo the congrats on "Randy". I really like this poem and can relate. I'm on a diet and like to drink too, wine and everything else. I'm trying to lose 25-35 pounds at least. I've doubled my weight in 27 years. Ouch! Some day I'll get back to 98 like my 30 year old daughter. Ellen

My weakness is looking at food. Do you believe one can gain weight looking at food? Well I have. My wife looks all over the house saying : "OK where is your stash?" Great Poem and interesting blog.

Love this. My diet demon is chocolate. Judging from what I've read, you sound British. Can't find where to click for your nationality though. Great rhyme and repeat of the last line. Happy writing. Thanks for your comment on my work.
