Freedom?

Down an alley of corrupt,
to a steep falling freedom.
Peace is brought to pieces.

through a washing tide of debt,
and an undertow of fascism.
Rape the public interest.

Around the smell of burning oil,
and the dripping drool of bigots.
there is something left standing.

This something is called a voice.
so let this voice be heard.
With loss comes pain and loathing,
Freedom is only a word.

Was Peace really ever there? I think we are all still longing for it. Freedom, indeed is often just a word. Not only misused by leaders but by each and everyone of us sometimes. Extremes are definitely no good. Fascism, is very bad and communism is very bad, so I guess we should opt for the center perhaps? Or the head? Follow the dictation of our conscience. Thought provoking write and well written. Thanks for sharing, Caroline.
