BREVITY OF PEACE

When alive and the soul falters in relinquishing
the anguished memories of moments,
perhaps of loves that were never meant to flourish;
People around you shall appear as malefic beasts
thrashing at your soul.

During the brevity of the body's dying breath
(should the matrimony of flesh and peace set forth)
one shall recall and arrive at the fruition
that those same people were verily the Lord's angels
setting the soul free from an earthly perdition.

And should the soul meander its way to eternal hell;
The only facet of it that shall ignite
is that of which harbors those anguished memories of moments,
perhaps of loves that were never meant to burgeon;
Though,sadly enough burned the mind into believing
that the Lord could not douse such tortured thoughts
with the serenity of His love.

    And I can see the last few lines are the real anguish, that the mind tricked itself into such a false belief was it's only mistake. My mind prefers to see evil within thrashing at it's own soul. The beast is easier to spot if it's in the world, nearly impossible to deal with when it's the self, or at least how the self feels about itself. Truly though there is a light somewhere at the end of the tunnel.

    This is quite an interesting write, thought provoking. It is a bit macabre, somber, disturbing, but it is well written, and effective.Thanks for sharing and thank you for your very nice comments on my poem, "In the eye of the Storm". A belated welcome to the soup. Caroline.
