No Cage for Me

I own my thoughts and feelings
I have a right to them
You can't control emotions
Or steal from whence they stem

If you should ever tell me
"Come on, don't feel that way!"
I'll simply have to answer
"You don't have any say"

You see, I own my feelings
I surely own my thoughts
I'm free to feel as I wish
My heart cannot be bought

Don't try to cage a lover
And make her soul your slave
For love not freely given
Is hopeless, then to save

*Inspired by Sami Al-khalili's contest, "Small Cage, Big Bird".

Amen to that..No one knows how you feel but you. Thanks for the review on My Prayer for Twin...I also post on poetrywithpassion and we were coming up with new forms. This was dropped in my spirit. One for the twins. I am a twin also. We also are faternal. My mom had three sets. Two girl sets and one boy. Our brothers have passed on but me and twin stay in contact. I may see the others when I go to Ok..that's if they want to be seen..a long story..

Good. Last stanzas a bit weak. I would have dropped it all together. The second to last stanza would have ended it with a better flow. May golden light caress your every movement. Patrick Wakefield Inc est. 1987

good idea, you know in america no one wants to see emotion only cando attitude, I think it is the cause of all the mental illness here, we suppress the real emotions.

This is great. I didn't try this contest as i have not felt caged and I am glad you don't. I didn't know we were having our own contest, I will have to step it up a bit. We both have a ways to go to catch the leaders. Fun isn't it? Love, Joyce
