Waking from a catnap

Gently,
the maple's
veined hydra of a
tounge stretches out
in fall to taste the midday
mist, to sate its chronic thirst.
How like a baby in its mother's arms
is this rough-grained senior clothed in bark.

Enjoyed this! I do not think I have ever seen this form before! As for you comment - let's hope for the best - but not be too much like Pangloss whom I think was a character of Voltaire. Peace & Blesssings Matthew Anish

Love the metaphoric use in this work. It is very descriptive also. Keep writing. Sara
