Running In Place

My only form of escape
Is to run away
I have been running all of my life
I run instead of standing up for my self
I run from the truth
That will set me free
I run from whats holding me back
And pulling me down
I give up my rights to stand up
And fight
I run to keep out of mind and sight
All that mess of long ago struggles
I run to find in easy short cut to come
A cross and finish
And not run blind on a straight line
I look for ways to run
To drop the load thats slowing me down
I run so that i dont have to explain
Why the sun dont shine on my face
Why the rain takes the place of my tears
Why this frown takes the place of my smile
I run to hide whats locked deep inside
And someday die then i can say
Aim done running

I know what you describe here; I have run, too, for a lot of my life. The poem captures this very well. I helped myself by learning to run in reality (marathons). Gets it out of my system... very true poem!
