Seagull Soiree

The Seagull Soiree
Is underway
At least a thousand of them
Fill the sky
In seemingly haphazard
Flight
Stopping and starting
As they’re darting in the air

But perhaps they are really doing
Their farewell dance to summer
Swirling whirling
Laughing and squawking
Their avian talking
As they head off
To parts unknown

So long, Summer Seagulls
Until we meet again

Beautiful and sad in away to see them leave. You know winter is upon us then. Thank you for sharing Corinne. Love, Carol

There is such a melancholy, tranquil feel to this poem....watching them fly away! Nicely done, Corrine. love, Carrie

Just today I was at the beach watching the seagulls "swirling, whirling" and enjoying the heavy winds from the hurricane that is out in the Atlantic. Love the way you describe their "farewell dance to summer." (Here in Florida, they're year-round residents.) Delightful read, Corinne! Love, Carolyn
