The Tree Of Life

Beneath a bright,blue sky
Where green fields glow
Stands a skeletal tree
Raising its bare arms
Imploringly to the heavens
Like Death demanding life.

At its lifeless heart inlaid
A wooden crucifix
Whereon our suffering saviour
With arms outstretched
Gives up his life
To save our souls.

High atop the tree
Calmly stand two storks
In their sturdy,twig-built nest
Loftily serene
Disdainfully disregarding
Those below who strive to make them fly.

In that trinity
A sacramental moment
Eternally enshrined.
