Cyanide for a smile

He carved the diagnosis directly onto my veins.
And all I could do was smile.
His venom rushed through me like cyanide
Ending my love quicker than I wanted.
His sharp-edged eyes pierced my heart’s
Fragile casing and I exploded into what
I really was…
Just another human scattered into love.
And all I could do was smile.
Each drop of blood he took from me
Was just another skin of mine
That was shedding even louder.
I was sinking under and couldn’t
Hold my breath.
The sweet scent of poison
Overwhelmed my thoughts.
And all I could do was smile.
So many emotions fluttered
Inside my mind: all my love
Was now just hate
And all the hatred vanished.
I was anxious as well as happy,
And all I could do was smile.
Lust became my instinct and sleep
Was getting closer.
He reached his hands out as he said,
Grabbing at my numbness,
That I would forever be his truly, madly, deeply.
And all I could do was smile
As the cyanide reached my closing.
