Dance to the Ticking of the Clock

You left with a kiss
And the lips that I’ll miss
Not a tear, not a longing glance back.
I watched as you strode
A month down the road
Wandering through time with no compass or map.

And the places you went
The time that you spent
Were they ever the same without me?
Your friend or your foe
I guess I’ll never know
How you’ll change and what horrors you’ll see.

If you have time for one stop
My door is unlocked
And it stays that way for you alone.
I see you in the door
And realize what hearts are for
As mine pounds and like you, comes home.

We’ve been miles away
Now much closer today
But farther again with each tick and each tock.
So as time passes too quickly
Let us dance to its ticking
Let us dance to the ticking of the clock.
