If I Knew Where I Was Going

If I knew where to go,
How to get there, and know
What to do when I got there,
How to put on the show…

If I knew my direction
And quite without vexation
I could adhere to the main road
And not have mention

That I might not belong here
That my heart could not quite bear
If this road were a short one
With a dead end; I would care.

For without all the side trips,
And without many small blips,
Could my clearing have sunlight?
Or bright April rain drips?

I think that it’s better,
If a little bit wetter,
That I take grassy track roads
In a car that might clatter

If I knew where to go,
How to get there, and know
What to do when I got there,
Well… I think I’d say no.

Why not? the missing adventure laden with surprise ... the missing excitement of unknown romance? Great poetry anyhow ... love you more

Hi Carolyn! Not sure how this all works yet, or how to get back to you, but this seems most logical so i'm giving it a go! Thanks so much for taking an interest! I must sound sooooo miserable, but I'm really not! The poems just seem to come out that way... yeah, I guess that is the conclusion I reached, I was generally thinking about the future, and decided there was something of adventure in not knowing, and i liked it. I'd love to read some of your poems!

Very intriguing write, Emma. You leave the reader curious as to why you would "say no." Could it be that the journey is more exciting than reaching the destination?
