Somewhere

Somewhere, looking for Elmo
I found myself
There I was
Wearing a (penciled in) ruler in my pant leg
Carrying a carrot on my waistline
The tree once filled with birds;
Now harbors ice cream cones

I was bitter
Life had not been kind
Too many paper dolls
Dressed in bubble gum wrappers

Sometimes who you think you are
Doesn’t even come close
I found out
When I talked with me Mum
I had a horrid childhood (earliest years)

My puzzle is filling in
Too rapidly to adjust
Someone,
Please find the eraser

it is unfortunate that we can't erase the bad, but, we have those pains to learn and grow from. Great truth writing here!

Oh that last line just worries me. Very powerful. If this is a true reflection on reality, I am so sorry, but there is a strength in you that is always revealed, and I know you will be fine. Will be thinking of you. Excellent write. Hugs, Shar xoxo

Guess we can never erase the past...good or bad....but we can try to look at it with keen eyes...and use what we see, as a tool for growing stronger, for painting ourselves a better future. Great poem, you have such talent! ~ Carrie

Sometimes who you think you are Doesn’t even come close... We are never who we 'think' we are beautiful One. We simply are, moment to moment. Embrace what you don't know about yourself and let it unfurl inside of who you Are. Blessings my friend. Wonderful writing... always. :)

Love the way you find yourself while "looking for Elmo." Too bad about the birds. Nothing stays the same. But I wonder if you should consider erasing the past, when it has made you into the compassionate woman you are today. Your mother was a great influence on your life, Alexandra! Love, Carolyn
