Solace In Sand

we dance to the offbeat sound
           of daisies in our hair
(freedom comes in many forms)
hot sand on our bare feet
as we twirl and twirl to sounds
that others just are deaf to
I go here when I can’t breathe
this is the place to come
                when life crushes
when it beats me beneath a boot stomp
of sorrow and invisibility

miles of blue ocean….
              unsolved mystery
and shoreline of tranquility
warm balmy caresses on tanned cheeks
palm trees sway along with the breeze
seems they hear our song….

I am free here…in this utopia
a nirvana just for little Bri and me
she hears my music….she laughs
(and the sound is like a thousand stars)
and she spins to the notes
floating on the air
caught on a euphoric wind

I see her blue eyes smiling
(the whole sky shimmers there)
her little wood sprite giggles
fits of them as she chants
“watch me mommy!”
tiny chubby arms out wide
embracing life

and my heart melts
as she captures the wind
in baby hands and kisses it
with innocent girl lips
and lets it flow back out
caught up in the laughter
I forget that life is hard

can you hear our music?
come and play here….
only us three….we would dance

yes….daisies shine in our hair
girlish giggles skip the waves
we are united in our paradise
and pirouette faster and faster
 in these moments
the ragged hurt disappears
and the sun shines again

will we see you there?
there is room for you....

Tentative paradise, a green place to be; you seem to truly know where to go in order to keep reason and memory away for a while, hide from the tough hands of sand, the back of a human head, the best place to lay dead, oh yeah; thanks for sharing this, it was a peaceful moment =)

Doble u- O - doble U!!! Christie, this is awesome! " 'watch me mommy!'/tiny chubby arms out wide/embracing life " ...what a beautiful image. Sometimes it's really hard, when we want to share a precious instant of our life with somebory who's absent. I felt a deep emotion reading this...and of course... here come the tears...This poem goes to my favs, my friend. Great work. Ruben.

I love this....painting such a vivid picture of you and your daughter. Losing the weight of cynicism in her innocent naievity, twirling dance partners. I'll join a round of "ring-around-the-rosie"...it sounds like a great version of "freedom" to me! Right on, Write on!! Love, This Guy

Awww, you and your baby girl, dancing in the sand - what better place to be? And even room for one more. (I know it isn't me, but it would be fun! Our girlies could twirl about in their princess dresses, and we could smuggle in a bottle on vino, and dance along too. lol) think about it, it would be fun! lol awesome poem for dear, Bri, love, me

There is a place where the heart swells into a dream, a space where all things are possible... where all things that were, become lost in a moments picture of freedom...... Outstanding writing as always Christie .... I bow low

I can hear the music and I'd love to be there, Christie. There is nothing more precious than the imagination of a child. My favorite writings have always been about children, have written scads of poetry about my childhood. You are a kindred soul, a child at heart, with uncluttered imagination. Love, daver

You and your little girl out there in miles of blue ocean. Hey, can I join you? I may come in handy with my formal training in marine biology, I could teach your girl - and you too, for that matter - about shells, crustaceans, seaweeds, planktons, you name it. I can't teach you though how to swim, you have to fend for yourselves, because ironically this trained marine biologist doesn't know how to swim, awk!!! Enjoy the ocean breeze and the sun. Fred
