Life Dims

He was a shadow of a man,
gaunt and undernourished,
no money, no demands,
hunger is all he commands,
his skin barely filling out his bones,
nothing he owns,
missing teeth makes his words more garbled,
eyes shining like marbles,
his family would scarcely recognize him,
as he took a sad moment to reflect,
nothing to detect,
as he palmed his rumpled hair,
as death came near,
homeless, and no one cares,
distraught, and filled with despair,
as he walks broken into the night,
life dims,
as he prays for the light.

And indeed without the dark we have no need of light, and without the prayer we do not see the beauty of the night. I feel you in the words, love.

So touching and sad. You have a way of ripping the heart out of the reader as they follow the story in your words. Beautiful writing. Smiles from Lolita

Dag gone it Frank, I can't be mean and I can't be nice. You write such tragic hopeless pain filled pieces. You really have a heart for people, I mean you haven't eaten a finger or spurted blood in forever. What does it feel like to be invisible? No one seeing or trying to meet your needs, actually you've probably already answered that question, sunshine,,,Great job almost a 6.5

Your character's lot in life is compelling as well as sad, Frank. No wonder "he prays for the light." Love, Carolyn
