A Simple Chair

A Simple Chair

Me, a thing made of wood
just a simple chair
from the day you bought me
you held me with care

You sat me there
in that special place
and decorated me
with cushions and lace

Now, I watch you all day
as you go about
everything I see
there's not a doubt

For when, you're in a fight
I know your words are true
but if only I could speak
I'd be there for you

And if you take a rest
upon my lap
I feel so happy
I want to clap

But my hands,
they're made of wood
I cannot move them
I wish I could

When I'm left
all alone
I'm always waiting
to see you home

If you're not there
to sit on me
how useless and sad
I'll feel and be

I'm glad you're there
to fill my empty seat
but to make you comfy
is my only treat

I can do nothing else
for I'm just a chair
one whom you kept
with love and care.
