Concerning the Converse of Eagles and Men

Sometimes I wonder…
what visits the avian brain
of the eagle gracing a branch near the lake.
Is there any thought there?
Is there some strange, birdly insight
delving into the business of fishes?
Or do I merely project my own thoughts
into those fearsome eyes?
I heard of a fellow here who feeds the eagle.
He holds up a fish and the eagle flies down
and alights on his boat.
Do the man and the eagle speak
in a trans-species tongue?
Do they tell each other of the fish caught
and of those that got away?
Sometimes I wonder…
which is the better liar?

Well of course they speak. When you are that close to somethings eyes they talk to you...

Niether? Maybe they are both just being themselves.

I have no doubt there is thought there, though it may not be the same as ours. Your words made me "see" you contemplating the bird - and the nature of man. Congrats on the feature of a fine poem :-)
