Wistful

'...the wind plays andantes
    of lost hopes and regrets.'
                      Hart Crane

It is your soul and constant sorrow that concern me,
you seem pale and unprotected; I want so much
to be your lover and your shield, to keep your miseries
at bay, by your side for ever for the glowing recognition
of your smile. But the opportunity was never really there,
so your lovely face lives only in my reveries.

Wow Keith. You have so many extremely excellent poems. As far as your suggestion goes to my "Wasteland" there needs to be 10 syllables in each line. So, if I took out "be" there would only be 9 - what do you think if I started the sentence with "Of"? Or should I just leave it in. Or...do you have any other suggestions? Thank you! Love, Shar

Hey to you, Keith! Oh my, 'chivalry is not dead', it lives on within hearts such as yours.:) They are many rogues and rascals lurking in life's labyrinth..too bad you can't set up some sort of workshop for those entering.:) A beautiful poem...invokes a sense of warmth and maybe one of hope.(you are going to set up that workshop, aren't you?!:) Hope all's well with you and yours...God bless you all!! Love, Mikki

Have to comment on this one again, so lovely it is. The way it is written with such tenderness to read it one feels caressed by it. It has fast become one of my favorites. I think I just swooned again (lol). Love Robin

This poem strikes me with so much recognition and emotion I sit in a huddle sobbing from loss. Why is hope such a delicate little flame on a short, stumpy lump of wax? I bow in thanks for this effort, Keith! Warm regards, John.

Well, I don't think I've ever read another poem that fit its title so perfectly. This poem should be in the dictiopnary under 'wistful'. a sad, and well, wistful piece. lol love, Kristin and thank God for you and your grammatical genius. lol

This is so beautiful that I am at a loss for words and that, my friend, is not a common occurence. You have made me wistful to hear you read this. Christie pegged it. Let the swooning begin! You are the Master. Glad you liked my sonnet. I feel like I am growing both as a writer and a person on this site. Thank you for your support and encouragment. Love Robin
