The Marvelous Young Man

Strange fits of passion have I known
And I will dare to tell
But in my lover’s ear alone is
Where my secrets dwell

A young man, stout of heart, and strong of limb
A strong hold on his affections
The pleasure which there is in life itself
Yet, uncertainty in all directions

Though older than himself was I indeed
Twas a full twenty and five years
Brought hope with me and forward thoughts
To explore new and exciting frontiers

When really I began my purpose
Was only to him to speak
Of remedies and of a cheerful hope
For truly as a companion I did not seek

But there we two were sitting in the shade
Fresh as green glistening at break of day
The birds were singing in the distant woods
While I, with him, had my way!

Pure fire!! That is the Jamaican way of saying something is terrific. Love the passion and love how it is written so delicately.
