Thirsty

There was a spider webbing himself
an empire along my bathroom
walls.
It had sat there for weeks
devouring
everything
that happened along its web.

Feeling the thirst
come upon me one night
I left my bed,
my wife & child,
went into the bathroom,
found that spider
& sat beside it for a few
moments.

There it sat juicing
some small fly.

After its meal
I smashed the life out of it
with my bare hand.
Its carcass glued to my palm
I went back to bed
beside my wife & child
still
thirsty.

Thank you for your welcome comment, Joseph. I appreciate it. .. enjoyed the take on the spider "webbing himself an empire".Cool. The succinct description of it's sudden demise was interesting because of what it does to the reader . It is also interesting how this webbed empire drew in so many comments , is it not, Joseph? God bless you and yours -Robert
