Sources of Metaphorical Poetry
Digging poetry is necessary.
          panning verses is fundamental,
and how do we do it...!
          simply sifting light!...

Sifting slurry through my word sieve
occasional bright flashes give hope
but there is so much dross and the
yellow flakes in my quicksilver amalgam
may be naught but fool’s gold....

Goober went panning for gold in the creek
Hot and bothered, needed to take a leak ~
   Goober pulled down his drawers
His hose produced more and more ~
Cried, "O, my, but doesn't liquid gold reek!"...

Duty Done
Warily watching, panning.
One meercat sharply scanning,
Gallantly guarding buddies
From all the big bad hoodies.
Falcons flying, cats hunting,
sneaky snakes, wild boars grunting.
Duty done, feeding time fun!...

Only When the Sand Is Filtered Out Can the Gold Be Found
Don't say that slander is as dangerous as a deep torrent
And people who’re banished sink forever like sediment.
Although with painstaking filtration the panning is bound,
Only when the sand is filtered out, can the gold be found.

Premium Member Whipsawn By Storm At Dawn
Listen to poem:
Sunbeams breached the clouds like searchlights panning
dark clouds looming above red sky flaming.
Lightning flashes with sharp cracks of thunder,
    as storm marches ominously closer.
The wind whips the waves up, terrifying
the crew huddled, cowering and praying....

Premium Member Sunbeams At Dawn
Listen to poem:
At daybreak,
the sea sheens, glints and gleams,
as sunbeam shafts blasts holes through clouds,
to set the sea alight.

Cauldron pools so bright,
sparkle the sea with shimmering brilliance.

Searchlight sunbeams, panning the sea,
create a celestial celebration of dawn,
at daybreak....

Love
Love is unseen thing
But it's high ring!
you never touch it
Because you do n't feel it.

Love is always moving
Because you're always running
you'll never know it
Because you're unknown about it.

Love is emotional thing
Because you're always carrying
Sometimes you always laughing
Sometimes you always panning....

I’ll be panning for gold, the child told me.
I’m looking for shipwrecks, said another.
The third one was going to become an adventurer.

I felt relieved.
Glad they are not all three going to be influencers on Utube
Like the rest of the third grade class.

Except for Josie.
She is going to be a unicorn when she grows up....

Eyes panning down the lake
like sharpest Canon lens;
She captures all preys in sight~
Not a fastest swimmer,
not a fastest runner
Can flee from her big jaws
when hunger strikes tummy.

But this one isn't a Pleiades.

Muse
Fantasy flows
around her soul
she's everything that
makes you whole.

she takes the day and
breaks it down
she extricates the black
and brown,

filters out the bloody reds
and pours fresh colors
in your head.

She goes panning
for the shades
of sapphires
in the stock and trade

of ordinary things you do....
she makes a poet out of you....

Eyes Open - I Still Looked
My eyes are wide open
 perusing every corner of life
 and there you are.
Masculine, tall, dark and handsome
panning for the gold in a relationship
and here I stand waiting, ready to give all.
Quick and fast she passes
beauty on the prowl gleaning for a match
 what was I thinking?
My eyes were wide open
 and I knew better
but still I looked and hoped....

Premium Member Morning Musings
morning sunrise ~
painting mountain peaks
in soft pastel
of purple and peach
as birch trees sway
in unison
with my windswept hair

I run and chase~
the gossamer of light
gently panning
through my windowpane
hoping I could find
even a glimpse
of your silhouette;
Alas, nothing is left
but a gentle echo
of your sweet adieu.

Premium Member Panning For God
eat and crap
rinse-repeat
seeking freedom
in between

another season
blooms alone
holiday bulbs
icy homes

eat and crap
rinse repeat
seeking love
in between

fleeing love
warping mind
expanding space
slowing time

eat and crap
rinse repeat
young to old
in half a blink

panning for god
in parched creek
stomping brambles
in bare feet

reaper craps
on paper doors
darkness has arrived
to even scores...

Premium Member Kept My Thoughts to Myself
Shirley Zee loved cooking, cleaning and canning
While her apple pies in the window were fanning
Her life is so easy said our neighbor, Snoop Manning
I rolled my eyes, trying my best to be dead-panning

I knew the truth about Shirley’s marvelous life
She had plenty of problems, lots of turmoil and strife
A sneaky snake in kitten’s clothing had made her his wife
Kept thoughts to myself, for Manning’s words could cut like a knife...

She doesn't walk or pace, she strides
at the speed of escape,
her head panning,
eyes scanning,
every suitor a potential threat,
all tarred with the same brush,
she cannot forgive and cannot forget.
The price paid for violation and she can't settle the debt.
Her assets have been frozen-
love, and trust.
And so she keeps moving, as she must.
Trying to leave her past far behind her
but wherever she goes, her memories find her....
