General PoetrySoup Contest Info:

• It's Free
• Open to all forms and genres of poetry
• Awards $900 in prizes yearly
• Open to all poets either with or without previously published poetry.
• Only electronic submissions through the PoetrySoup website are accepted.
• The online submission deadlines are September 1 at 10:00 PM, January 1 at 10:00 PM, and May 1 at 10:00 PM.

Eligibility for Contests:

1. Spell words carectly correctly
2. You cannot have more than one PoetrySoup account.
3. Choose the correct poetic form.
4. Do not write in ALL CAPS
5. All poems entered were written by you
6. You entered your permanent living address on PoetrySoup
7. You entered your correct email address on PoetrySoup
8. Adhere to PoetrySoup's Terms and Conditions

Contest Deadlines

• $300 Poetry Contest - September 1, 2008
• $300 Poetry Contest - January 1, 2008
• $300 Poetry Contest - May 1, 2008

Eligibility for Cash Prizes:

1. You are not a cash prize winner of the previous contest.
2. You adhere to PoetrySoup's Terms and Conditions.
3. You MUST be able to receive a US bank check or accept PayPal payments.

Cash award breakdown for the contests are as follows:

1. 1st Place = 25% of the prize money and certificate
2. 2nd Place = 20% of the prize money and certificate
3. 3rd Place = 15% of the prize money and certificate
4. 4th Place = 10% of the prize money and certificate
5. 5th Place = 10% of the prize money and certificate
6. 6th Place = 10% of the prize money and certificate
7. 7th Place = 10% of the prize money and certificate
8. 8th - 20th = Honorable mention
