I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Culver City, California until my parents moved to Washington State for a season, then Lebanon, Oregon when I was in high school. It's been a long time since.

I'm rather easy going and flexible, well, you might need to ask my wife. I believe that just because I believe in something, it does not make me right and someone else wrong. I am open to changing my mind on certain things based on someone's ability to convince me otherwise. Ha-ha :)

I have a strong belief that the journey of life is important, as the end does not justify the means to achieve an end. I believe in Jesus Christ and his philosophy of compassion, equality, inclusion, forgiveness, tolerance, peace, and most importantly love.

I read a blog earlier about marriage that caused me to pause and leave a response. My history with marriage has it's faults. I have made mistakes in the past, but I have learned from those mistakes. I am not perfect my any means, but I truly love my family with all my heart and that includes my family of friends.

I have come to realize that a marriage can be a blending or matching of different elements or components. Look at a fine sulpture of sandalwood, it's a beautiful marriage of texture, form and fragrance...This can be the same meaning of what a marriage is between a man and a woman.

I shared with this person that I believe only marriage allows a life to deepen and to be enlightened with the knowledge that two souls have chosen against all odds to blend into something new--this is not ownership or bondage. I think this is very important. Marriage is not about ownership; it is about giving and not taking.

There is something about the marriage commitment that evolves the whole life experience into something deeper with an extended meaning. In a marriage you should believe with all your heart you have found someone with whom you are able to grow and evolve into something new.

You must also have the faith and commitment that you can resist the fascination of path not taken or a potential lure of the possibilities of another, and if you have the strength to embrace the many seasons and changes life has to offer, then your marriage will be a blessing. If you cannot do this, then wait...a true marriage is worth the wait. With patience when the time has come, you will experience many sunrises and sunsets with the fragrance of an endless bloom...which has all the elements of fine poetry.

Ed, much wisdom in your offering here. A marriage works only when both parties not only love each other but also when each one is willing to give to uplift the other. Those two keys will allow a marriage to not only survive but to thrive as well IMHO..
