Little Beaver

A little beaver Possessed to harvest timber The teeth razor-sharp Does he think about his toil His hut, design or instinct Edward J Ebbs - March 8, 2015

Ed, I love your beaver tanka, I recall watching a documentary on beavers, they are amazing creatures A7 and thanks for visiting my maple tree poem, I hate seeing old trees cut down

The beavers have moved on for now...A mall was built around here years ago. There was this huge Oak tree on the property and because of the outcry from the community, the owners and developers incorporated the tree into their project...you need happy customers after-all :)

Like the story of the tourtose and haire, the beavers work slow and deliberate :)

God made the beaver, to fend for himself and without them, would we have learned to build our own shelters? We learn by observation...beaver's diligence is a gift; he teaches us that our natural resources, are also a gift. I do love this poem.

We learn from each other, wonder who is learning from us :) Thank You :)

Hi Ed, your poem made me think. Perhaps the beaver is just building dams because it is in his instinctive nature. I doubt they take measurements, pull permits or worry about the quality of the wood when they "harvest timber." Very poignant! 7 fromme. Best wishes, Carolyn

You could be right, no one is going to build a home for them, but they can be a little selective on what they harvest if they have a choice...kind of like us in a way :) Thank You

Instinct or not, I just think we should figure out how to bottle that energy. :)

ED, a thought provoking write, the beaver, and we have tons here in Canada, can be both beautiful and destructive in his pursuit for that timber, loved your tanka verse, well done and thanks for your thoughtful comment on my poem, in the garden . . .
