Takers of the Lost Arc, Part Iv

...Some would long debate the whole raid,
say the arc was now truly lost,
others would say a museum piece
was never worth such a high cost.

I suppose those questions will rage,
on the net it gets rather loud,
but Alice pays no heed to it,
I hear she’s a minister now…

Takers of the Lost Arc, Part Iii

...He saw his prize slipping away,
his future he now found in doubt,
had to make sure whoever came
would perish, and never walk out.

He had a compound in Puntland,
where arc and hostages were kept,
on guard were always sixty men,
on rotation, when others slept.

He brought them close, to the big room,
where the arc waited for its price,
for weeks

Takers of the Lost Arc, Part Ii

...Then working with the government,
who always liked more western cash,
they set up an agreement that
they hoped could contain this backlash.

Two scientists could see the arc,
and work to verify its age,
one from Harvard, and one Cambridge,
and to Axum both made their way.

The American, an old man,
Professor Hammond was name,
the Brit was a young grad student,
named Alice,

Takers of the Lost Arc, Part I

It started off the strangest thing,
like some tale out of Hollywood,
the famed ‘Arc of the Covenant,’
with stone tablets, cherubs, and wood.

Believed long lost to history,
destroyed by Babylonians,
the box that housed the commandments,
back when Israel was begun.

No one seriously thought that it
was still in existence today,
archaeology laughed at that,
wouldn’t hear what folks had to say.

Dismissed them

givers and takers, in their zone
form habit patterns, they each own
the taker, going on grabbing
whilst the giver, trauma bonding
both deluded and thus forlorn

Premium MemberCare Givers and Takers

It is 2 pm
on a hot and humid Sunday
in June.

I am cleaning walls
and floors,
cabinets
and doors,
and laying newly steamed rugs
in a new place
of one floor living
more suitably down-sized
from three floor struggling
for my disabled son
and aging me.

My husband
for the past twenty four years
calls with Happy Father's Day!

This, like an anniversary ritual,
surprising reminder between us two Dads
not

Givers and Takers

Givers and Takers

For when I am a leaf upon the ground,
As I often am.
You will find me in a state of change.
From the juicy reds and yellows
To a blending shade of brown, to tan, to
nothing.
I will be soggy, soft, limp.
Or a reactive crinkle under your feet
Depending on

Risk Takers excite me
Jumping in without hesitation
Optimism oozing out of them

Self confident
Perpetually ready
Game for whatever

Diving off cliffs
Our out of airplanes
Without caution

Expecting the best
Anticipating the thrill of the win
And usually getting it

Premium MemberThe Takers Change Christmas

There are takers, and they can ruin the season.
Teaching their children to get on all the Christmas lists.
Yelling at the do-gooders who bring toys but no receipts.
Showing the do-gooders children what appreciation does not look like.
Their children are embarrassed, realizing their mother’s behavior is unkind.
Recognizing a bully when they see one.
“Don’t bring us anything else

Misplaced Loyalty

I've invested too much time
Into people I thought were genuine
It's baffling
How many people you know
You think have your back
But actually don't
When you need me there
I show up
When I need you
It's you know I would but
I've come to learn
I ain't the only thing desyroying me
The other part of

Any Takers

This expert excursion...

sweet sweet soliloquy?

Checking every bucket box,

chiming like strife to be?

Frank Zappa may have had his platter eaten-

Joseph Gobbles his Dotton feelie' wheels,

but made the park his whole weighted keel?

When you wouldn't leave the stuffy car to pray for a deal?

How can the forcery stars not end up real?

Premium MemberUnrequited Love

Poppyseed Princess with poppyseed lips,
Fragrant yellow piston, and beautiful hips.
In the wind, savoring her relationships,
Never knowing of my dream for her companionship.

I am a simply ugly marigold, gnarly and quite plain.
Recognizing beautiful, but my tongue I dare refrain.
If she knew of my love, would she turn away in rain?
I dare

Blind battle? here it goes

predictable, and belated
while I keep it one hundred

battle rappin' ain't shi** to it
yal drinkin' my spittin' like fluid
blastin' any takers
come on and get this
you can be the next

Premium MemberTakers Taken

The night takers come when the sun goes down
When there's no one around to hear the quiet loud
They are the shadowed clouds feared by the proud
Seeping in through ears with maddening clapping sound
Insane clowns with razor sharp teeth poking around
The mind pounds until it's fully unwound
Once it's lost it can never be found

The brain
