My Pastoral advice for all old codgers.
Things to never trust or think. 
1 Never trust humans in general. Sometimes they mean well, and sometimes they’re just… well… mean. 
2 Never trust the car in front of you with a blinker on to actually turn the direction the blinker indicates. Ever. And oh yeah. Turn “your” blinker off. It’s been on now for the last ten blocks. 
3 Never think just because you could lift that thing when you were 40 …. (Whatever thing. Feed sack, bale of hay,  Chevy transmission, or anything else over 7 pounds) never assume you can still lift it. And if you attempt to anyway, especially with any younger guys watching, you better have good insurance. 
4 Speaking of needing insurance, never trust an anesthesiologist (I spelt that word first try! wow) You just don’t know what they might do to you when they knock you out. But I can guarantee that you will be poked and prodded. Period. Trust me. Remember the first thing a surgeon removes in any and all surgeries is your dignity. 
5 Don’t think that young lady that is smiling at you and that just winked at you is flirting. She’s not. It’s just that you remind her of her dead grandpa.
6 No matter how good you feel or healthy you are, never trust a fart after 50. Ever. Sadly I know some of you will test this. And you will truly regret it. 
7 Never trust a politician. There’s a very unique way to tell when any of them lie. Their lips move and sound comes out. 
8 Never assume that all sheep are wolves in sheep’s clothing. There are many sheep in wolves’ clothing. They look like and act like wolves, but that’s not really what they are. Some otherwise innocent people have been raised by psychological and emotional wolves and it shows. They don’t know how to act any other way. If you are truly a Christ follower, show them the Shepherd. Only He can wash the wolf out.
9 Never take even one more minute for granted. Live life. Love other humans. Be kind to animals. Be kind period. 
10 Never let past mistakes and regrets cripple you. Get forgiveness and forgive yourself.
