FACE IT

FACE IT

This fascinating thought –
Back of the eyes, a whim,
Left-right of the ears
Beyond flesh, beyond image
I’m looking out from within

A through the looking glass thing –
Rabbit twitch, chin rub, cheek puffing thing
Gone runny nose, rosy cheeks and freckles
Hello wardrobe. Hello Oz
Hello eternal something

It’s always been there,
Wanting free space,
O’er topping frantic peaceful schemes,
but shackled by inevitable carnage,
eyeful curse of the race

In last repose
Eyes closed, mind’s final effort clear,
Life, I decide, might become so dear,
But then, a distant, oval, fount of rainbow colors,
Soothes. There is nothing to fear
