Hospital Meadows

She skips through the halls
Like an ancient Druidess,
Dancing an imagined step
To the tempo of Heart
Monitors across the hall.

Her hair, a white waterfall,
Splashing off bony shoulders.
Her blue eyes, Wedding Bells,
Shining and singing
A melody of Spring.

The room transforms into
A meadow of wildflowers. She
Runs her hands along the petals.
I am lucky and thankful, to be
Waltzed away from a swollen Emergency Room.

God, to have the grace of a child.
