The Long Lost Passenger

I awaken to a foggy day
I watch trees play charades in the wind
Atop the neighbor’s house his roof’s a bust up shoe
Agape an unkempt garden, I espy wilder berry fruit
It once held pulp sweet enough for a drooling pup
I recall the little boy that played in the rugby camp
Cap turned backwards for luck, on frog bent knees
He splits the ball in the air, and the crowd roars
Imaginary people sitting on the bleachers, watching
All gone expect one, good old “Smitto” playing piccolo
As he tucks himself under a charcoal broiled sky
I squint, “Smitto, is that you?” the fog appears to thin
As do the vapors in my mind, I hear the sound of a
Steam kettle blow, it sounds like the steam whistle
Of a long lost train, it is waiting at central station
For a long lost passenger, named (Vie)

I love the trees playing charades with the wind line, fantastic. Then you leave us with a little mystery, well done. Oh I have just come from your collaboration with Thomas "Baby Powder...", another great piece.

For whatever this poem means,,,,, it makes me rather sad. There is more to this story and I believe more to where it was inspired. Beautifully written!

Smitto is somewhere close by, and the fog appears to thin. You are a marvelous young poet, Rose. You often surprise me with the richness of your nicely portrayed themes and way of expression. Should I expect you to participate in my contests more often? :) G.

That long lost train waiting for a long lost passenger..Sometimes we need to go back in time to find our blissful moments once again..That would help us appreciate where we d come from..Excellent sweet lady and tnks for reading my humble verse.

What a setting. I almost wonder if this is a reflection of self in these lines. Searching, hoping, to get back what was once lost. I don't know. I could be WAY off on this. But, it's just a thought...and this was still an impressive writing. :)
