Decided not to give up yesterday As I staggered across the living room and began to fall through space and time To the floor Albert Einstein's Pie may be square but I was flat on my big round ___ backside As if someone had given me a sedative On the way down I flashed back to open heart surgery in Orlando I remembered how easy and comfortable that sedative had been then 100 99 98 gone This could be the big one I thought let go and enjoy it You've had a good run just let go Then my Bangle cat started licking my face and I began to panic I must out live the cats I owe the three of them for the laughs they've given me And for simply being someone to come home to at my age I must out live the cats Now a day latter the V.A. doctor has given me a new bag of pills an E.K.G And a brand new hope that if I pay attention I might just be around awhile I just might out live the cats And yesterday after all was just not a good day to die
