Andrew died 3 months old

The black crows are gathering overhead,
The roses bloom in seasons all their own,
The green hills I once loved, seem distant and dead
This garden will soon be overgrown.
My child was taken by God’s hand,
And I am left to try and understand.
Where is my gentle Andrew?
The doctors said it was heart defect,
But I disagree,
His little heart was perfect,
It was just not his time to be.
Oh will that Sun ever stop judging me?
It wasn’t my fault.
Will the moonlight ever be kind to me?
Or will I be the target for another insult?
Tonight I will not do the dishes,
Tonight I will not grant your wishes,
Tonight I will raise the glass of hemlock to my lip,
And I pray to God to give me the courage to sip.

Catherine, I am very sorry for your loss. I hope you find solitude in the fact that everyone here loves you. ~Kilmer

This is very heart wrenching. I would like to relate a story from my childhood. (I was about 10) A close friend of the family lost their boy, he was maybe the same age or thereabouts. Everyone around me was upset and grieving. I was to young to understand the grieving process. I had seen the baby a few times but had no real attachment as a young boy. This puzzled me for awhile.

I want to believe that Andrew is in a better place. I still do talk to him and he seems happy. Maybe i am going mad but there is a kind of comfort in madness. Thank you for your kind comments

I asked the minister at our church why the baby died and why I wasn't upset he said that there are some that are born that don't need to be judged, they already have the knowledge of life, peace and love inside. They only need to touch us for a moment before they return 'home' as part of God's plan. I am not sure this will help but at the time it did me. God bless you and your family.

You have expressed your heartbreaking pain beautifully in this poignant piece. I love children and can't imagine your loss. So sorry that happened to you. It sounds as though you are being divinely guided and that is a blessing. Love,

I am sorry about your son, Tunke. No, it was not your fault, and you will have another chance in the future. Have faith. Will you enter my new contest, if you may? It's called "Impress me". I'll be glad to see you there. :) G.

Thank you Debbie. I can sense your grief. Perhaps one day we will all understand why this happens? I like to believe my son is an angel in heaven. Maybe I'm silly but it comforts me.

Will the moonlight ever been kind to me? Outstanding but been should be the word be. Women are so highly related to their children in poems that they write. It is scary sometimes to wonder if what is in the poem just may be true. Jim Horn

That is what I wanted to hear about my poem. You people are fast. While I was changing it you were already analyzing it. Check out corrections I have made. Also, feel free to make recommendations any time that you want to. I really like this website and my poetry writing has been improving everyday. I did just put this poem together under short notice when related and syncopated came to mind. Writing poetry and improving are a continual process. jthorn5656@atmc.net
