Lear's Limerick
There once was a poet from London,
Whose verses often veered t’word a pun,
He suffered the asthma,
Had anemic plasma,
So paper and ink summed up his fun...

Another Way
Chartered course,
veered off of.
Always thinking
I was the boss.
A boot in my behind
Knocked down the pedestal,
now must submit my will, my all.
A defeat you say?
No, just a better way....

To the left curved the steep roadway. She veered right. Any other day she’d have hesitated. This time, though, she carried through. With the ocean in full view, she accelerated!

Impact
I saw an accident, it occurred in my peripheral
The sight of such an incident was really rather visceral
A car veered off the road, it rolled and then it went and hit a wall
There were five men inside and it unfortunately killed them all...

A Glimpse
One day
I saw
Up high
Above, a
Discernable shape
Of a Golden Eagle,
Scavenger supreme,
Gliding solitary,
Amid a sky
Of cerulean hue.
Suddenly,
It veered left,
Diminishing,
In height,
Then sight,
Finally receding,
Beyond
The Mountain
Of Bennachie....

Premium Member Storms
The shrewd gulls fretted and flew,
veered inland to avoid the storm.
Some strutted over spiky rocks,
others flew low over the sea,
occasionally swooping into the cold
rough sea below, foraging
for tasty salty fish.
But when the storm was over,
they just flew up and ventured
to blustery pastures new.

Premium Member A Bad Day In Space
According to an unnamed source,
An interplanetary force
Mysteriously veered off course,
Crash-landed in amongst the gorse.
The comms are dead, the pilot hoarse.
He’s banging S O S in Morse;
He beats the hull like a dead horse.
Just when things couldn’t get much worse,
A text comes in: she wants divorce....

Premium Member Two Ants
Two ants were walking in a line,
which is completely and absolutely fine.
When the ant in front veered left
leaving the ant behind bereft
of a plausible reason as to why
the ant in front did not comply.
‘Where are you going?’ asked the ant confused.
‘A toilet break’ replied the ant bemused.
The other ants scratched their heads
and followed the ant to the toilet instead....

Lines and Shapes
Two parellel lines began
somehow
and traveled together
for quite some distance
until one veered off
from the other.

And this was really a sad thing
since they were supposed
to have gone on into infinity.

What kind of geometry
did the line have in mind?

Perhaps
it dreamed of shapes
filling space excitingly.

Or perhaps
it learned of some
beautiful trigonometry...

I think maybe
it just longed
for a change of perspective....

TIRED TRUTH
I veered past
Your naked soul
And glimpsed
The scars
A slipped up sleeve
Revealed truth
I never wanted to see
Quickly, my eyes averted
As I squeezed away tears
...not here...not her

The breaking
The shattering hope
Gone, as crystal in wind
Beauty inside and out
Yet not one mirror
Can convince
Torment to let go
Of a yielded soul
Willing to cut away
...sorrow...seared sorrow
