Winter Break! - Bella Cardenas's Blog

I remember around this time last year, I was wishing I was older, wiser and out there, in the big wide world. I wished I was grown.

Now I find myself fiercely gripping my youth. Last year of my teens. Just one semester of college, and all my new experiences have opened my eyes immensely. I’m only going to be this age once, I’m only going to experience this moment, once. So I better enjoy it to it’s fullest.

Sometimes I wake up with papers plastered to my face, and my books spread around me on my bed, I get up and look in the mirror and say to myself:

Hmm, where did that pretty girl I used to know go? Who the hell is this tired looking chick facing me?

Thank God for Winter Break. Honestly. I was so close to burning out.

College beat me up pretty bad, but I know what to expect next time around. I’ve been horrible with contributing to the community but you know how that goes. Work and family, and social life has ultimately taken over my priorities, so poetry has been on the back burner. Hopefully I’ll have time to catch up.

Happy Holidays. The holidays are always a weird time for me. You see people at their best and their worst. Some people are so rude during the holidays, (especially since I work retail! oh geez, there are some JERKS out there) but then you get the amazing people who are just fantastic.
