With Each Morning - Contest

Blog Posted:8/21/2023 4:38:00 PM

Hello;

I am a new Premium Member, and I must say, it is a highly valued membership.

You may have seen my most recent contest creation titled "With Each Morning."  The entries, thus far, are incredible, and I am very excited to read more.  The talent that this site has to offer is sensational, providing a great learning experience that expands the mind.  I encourage everyone to participate and read the poems submitted.  Three already made it into the second round of winners.  Their poetry is absolutely breathtaking.

However, I am at a loss when it comes to two submissions, as they did not follow the rules.  I want them to have the opportunity to show off their skills, by reaching a higher review.  They already demonstrated a gift for poetry, and it would be a shame to dismiss their entries because of their lack of attention to detail.

Had my contest been easier, potential contestants would be at a loss, because available entry space would be diminished by said poems.

Is there a way to remove said entries, or contact the authors to resubmit?

If you have advice or experienced a similar situation, please leave a comment so we all can learn.

Thank you,
Mr. Martin Braun

Reading and rereading, and rereading your submissions has been very rewarding. Your poems are very thoughtful, very invoking. I cannot thank you enough.

You all are so amazing! The latest submission included the stanza, with a tweak, which doesn't adhere to the rules. To be fair, and prevent a Pandora's box scenario, which leads to chaos, I'm sticking to the rules. But, the change is perfect for this poem so wonderfully crafted, a sort of violation of natural law in of itself, LOL. I think this poem, and some others submitted are gold. They need to be shared... published as cards... or whatever people do with poems. Looking forward to reading more submissions!

This contest is filled with interesting twists, thanks to your submissions and comments. Some of the submissions are absolutely breathtaking. And two poems, although beautiful, did not follow the previous rules. The rules have been reworded for clarification, and make this contest more inviting.

I totally agree with Andrea and if she gets only a couple that have no relevance she's lucky, be prepared for a few, no biggy, just ignore them.

Thank you, Craig. I agree with Andrea, too. Just learning the system.

The problem I have with your contest is your requirement to include an entire stanza - which may be construed as plagiarism in the longer term. Sorry not for me.

I see your point. Respect is given. No offense is taken John, if you choose not to enter. You have an amazing collection and a proven gift for poetry. Thank you, to those who did contribute. It's a joy to read a particular theme and style.

Martin, give them an Honorable Mention so their poem gets read but it is not a real placement with ranking points. That is the nice part about Standard Contests, we can do that, congratulations on your Premiere Membership enjoy, blessings !

Andrea Dietrich, danke! Your contribution is very helpful. I was under the impression that Premium Members can enter multiple times. Thank you, for the clarification. I don't believe anyone is currently mocking me. I was just considering a situation, often found on social media. A minimum of 35 entries, another misunderstanding on my part, is certainly a large enough number to make said concerns moot. Thank you!

Martin, one cannot submit multiple poems to one contest. It's an impossibility. There were people in the past who had alternate personalities and different accounts who might have stooped that low, but no, people can only enter your contest one time from one account. You have to live with what you get, so if you think they are mocking you, just don't move them to round 2. This happens to me almost always at least one time per contest.Invitably someone will enter a long poem having nothing to do with my topic. Sadly, we cannot ask for fewer than 35 entries, but we can increase the number of entries if we so desire. hope that helps.

Thank you, Constance! In the future, I may not want 35 applications. As how I see it, premium members can submit multiple poems to one contest. What would prevent such a person from submitting numerous poems, for the purpose of mocking the contest, harassing the person who post it, and keeping people from entering? As far as I can see, there is no disqualification button when reviewing poems. There's also no feedback option like on BGT or AGT. There is no problem with this contest. The question "how to deal with said problem" is for future reference.
