Happy 100th Birthday, Joyce!

This July, long-time Soup member Joyce Johnson will celebrate her 100th birthday.  Please join in wishing her a wonderful day by posting a poem.  Choose any form, but try not to make it too long. 

The contest entries could be a tribute to Joyce, an upbeat or witty poem on aging (doesn't have to be new) or a poem inspired by one of the many poems Joyce has posted on Poetry Soup.  Catie Lindsey and I will be taking the best poems to Joyce's birthday party this July and presenting them to her. Some may be read aloud.  If you choose to do a tribute poem, here are some tidbits that may help you:

* Joyce is the head of her gardening club.  She travels many weekends to out-of-state gardening shows and competitions.

* Each spring Joyce takes the seat of honor in the club's float for the Tulip Parade.

* Joyce started writing poetry when she ws 80 years old and has had a book published this year.

* Joyce was born before the end of World War I.  She has lived through two world wars, Vietnam, the Korean War and the conflicts in the Middle East.  She lived through the Great Depression and numerous recessions.
