Long-time Souper Bob Hinshaw’s poem "Inspector Tweede" is included in an English school work book titled, “KS3 ENGLISH ANTHOLOGY - DETECTIVES.” The book contains the works of 24 authors including such renowned writers as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and Edgar Allan Poe. It is published by Hodder Education Company of London, England.
"I am indeed awed to be included in such company as Poe, Doyle and Christie,” said Bob. “Heady stuff for an Indiana country boy! Nonetheless, I'm honored that my poem was included and in some small way enhance the educational journey of British children."
The book was published for British school children ages 11-12. Each of the 24 lessons contains an article or poem written by the author in which the children are to: analyze the writers' techniques; recognize implicit ideas in the text; organize ideas and information; study interviewing techniques; and other activities to include writing essays about the information gained from the exercise.
Bob began writing at age 72 after retiring from the Air Force with 30 years service and serving nearly nine years as a Bailiff for the El Paso County Court, Colorado Springs, CO. He has composed over 1360 poems addressing almost every topic including: military, patriotic, religious, Western, nostalgic, seasonal, humor and poems about God's creatures. Bob has self-published five books of poetry, two of which are in the Library of Congress. He emulates the poetic style of poets Edgar A. Guest and James Whitcomb Riley (The Hoosier poet and Bob is a Hoosier as well) writing about ordinary people and situations.
Bob has won numerous national and international awards for his poetry. Pending is the publication of a book by a California author about the Old West that will contain another of Bob's poems titled "Wagon Wheels."
Congrats on your latest achievement, Bob!
