No doubt about it
No doubt about it
the mountain cuckoo

Seen
Seen
through a telescope:
ten cents worth of fog.
Not knowing
Not knowing
it’s a tub they’re in
the fish cooling at the gate.
Three times as funny in our pyjamas

Political campaigns all take a similar path.
They start out with such noble goals;
bring democracy back to the people,
take corruption out of the process.
Time to give all parties due process,
bring fairness back into the fold.
But then the realities set in.
Running a campaign costs money;
“Brother can you spare a twenty?”
Need to find hundreds of write-in votes
if the committee will allow them in.
Leadership already has their favorite picked.
Inevitable corruption seeps in,
power posturing and majority rule
to enforce ultimate control over it all.
Two stooges emerge, and one wins out.
With the financial influencers and horse-trading,
any actual good done for the public at large
seems accidental, ephemeral good fortune
for the actual benefit of all society.
Everything else is just “Me, me and me,”
It is true that I happened to slip
on a banana peel like a drip,
and yet I invented
the trick I presented -
the very first triple-axel flip.
Her craft had a sizzle and spark,
Lighting up to cook after dark.
So his brainpan swam,
“That’s one succulent clam!”
A morsel, just right for the shark.
I was delivering triple meat pizzas to the fat lady, during intermission.
The death happened before I arrived; you can check the cameras.
I wish I had seen something, so I could help you in your investigation.
Some of the singers are whispering about people they suspect.
Line sneaked in here, and was acting odd, I have heard this twice.
Her cousin Lin was seen hiding in a closet in the food court by Hank.
No, of course, I have no direct knowledge. I was not here.
Here is a list of the places I delivered pizza to in the last hour.
With the recipient’s phone numbers. These should clear me.
I saw Steven and Carol tiptoeing away from the orange Julius stand.
He was holding a broken bat; unsure if that will help but it might.
I have two more pizzas t deliver, and they are still hot.
Can I please go?
They called her triple scoop at school cuz she was kind of plump
she was made of ice cream, so all day long she ran and ran and ran
Sliding in and out of freezers just to gather herself up in a clump
They called her "Dairy Queen Of Junior High" she never got a tan
Flavored in three Neapolitan colors she came, now that is insane !
She dolloped to walloped turning away from the sun, run Queenie run
Oh how sweet but how melty she dripped each time it began to rain
The only thought through her head was, " I might as well be a nun !"
Then one day she met Mr. Freezer, who lived in an Igloo by the Artic
come live with me & we will make snowballs all day and play ...
It was best to live in the cold, for that was her honest prognostic !
together they thrived and felt good in that place called, " Snowsway"
Wonderful time,
Wonderful race,
Wonderful place.
The Word Nerd Goblin Man
Too many words were inside
The Word Nerd Goblin Man’s brain.
Every time he went for a run outside
words spilled out of his ears onto the lane.
Loner Fairy Woman
She loved alone time more than anything.
It became her only friend.
She named it Everything.
Troll Woman
Troll Woman was such a book nerd
that when she gave birth to letters stirred
instead of babies thin furred
she didn’t think that at all was absurd.
I had an offer to play a game of scrabble online
There was no chatting in the room to give me a sign
about whom my worthy opponent could possibly be
but we were well matched by the score, I could see
Assumed it was a guy from the name he was using
My Mistake was his screen ID, and I found it amusing
I'd been Southern Lady for years. No need for a change
Then, he made a word that made me feel a bit strange
My forehead and brows furrowed as he played 'heart.'
It was a triple word score to which I added 'break.'
On his very next turn, I frowned when he wrote, 'lady.'
I was suspicious. Something about him was a bit shady.
Caution warned me to be careful, but I stayed and played.
With twenty-two points on his turn he wrote, 'persuade.'
Could it be that his words were hidden messages for me?
I was being silly until he added honey to the word, 'bee.'
It's what he called me during the years we were married
The thought that it was him left me anxious and harried.
My heartbeat was racing, and my apprehension was riven
until on the board he wrote, 'sorry' and I added 'forgiven'
We dance to the bohemian sixties, wild and free
Sang out the teased up high hair trio of three
We call it the triple cat do, the triple cat do.
Stand back as we meow and mew all over you.
I had not met them before, but they were scary to me
So I hid in the closet as they twirled with glee
Their hair piled high on top of each skinny head.
Each one of them looked like she wore a cat, stiff and dead.
Oh, yes, we are dancing the triple cat do, the triple cat do.
Stand back they warned the crowd. We are coming for you!
A taxidermist might have known what to do.
I turned tail and ran from the Triple Cat Doo.
I hear your voice and the tears fall again
As babbling brooks flow and soft breezes blow
When birds sing us their sweet morning refrain
I hear your voice and the tears fall again.
Without you this life simply isn’t the same
Time goes by slowly and I miss you so
I hear your voice and the tears fall again
As babbling brooks flow and soft breezes blow.
I see you in stars glittering brightly
Memories made from moonlight romancing
When the two of us were young and sprightly
I see you in stars glittering brightly.
You are the queen of my dreams seen nightly
With the both of us joyfully dancing
I see you in stars glittering brightly
Memories made from moonlight romancing.
I miss the touch of your hand held in mine
The sweet kiss from lips that made my heart flip
Our embrace too exquisite to define
I miss the touch of your hand held in mine.
I cherish moments that stood still in time
The ecstasy and bliss of our courtship
I miss the touch of your hand held in mine
The sweet kiss from lips that made my heart flip.
Time’s scorched peach, spread syrupy soft
rolling thick then thin its umber, gossamer
Inside a dome gone silent, beating bacchii
pulsated a slow awakening like oozing sap
lazily rolling as a veil unfurls its edged curl
Elongating silken strands, etching in drape…
Time lays on rocky curves and water’s flat
Its lurid rays painless, whisper “Shh, it’s I!”
Mesmerized, all still to be charred in “Om”
Eventide then swallows silhouettes, whole…
