Aged To Perfection

Tall, dark and handsome
With a muscular physic
He's everything a woman could ask for
He even has an impressive technique

Smooth as an aged
Bottle of fine wine
And filled with words
That’ll make a woman
Loose her mind

How can there be such a man
That’s just that sweet
And still be called a heterosexual

Never in my wildest dreams
Have I met a man
That’s plushed, polished and oh so sleek
Like a well written book
That I could critique

I’d give him nothing but rave reviews
And awards up the creek

My Internal Pain

I’m hurting inside
There’s no way for you to know
I’m crying so hard, internally
But I’m trying to do my best not to let it show

All I ever wanted was to be loved
That it’s killing me softly and makin me mad

Sometimes all I want
Is to come home and be held
But that’s wishful thinking I guess
And thoughts that I shouldn’t be speaking

I’m trying to keep myself in good spirits
But I’m always alone
There’s never anybody around me that can hear my cries
I’m so misunderstood and no one seems to care

And that’s why I keep my feelings bottled up inside
Not wanting to let anybody inside my mind
Sometimes that’s the best way to be
There’s no room in my heart for anything else

No More Bad News

Well, well, well now, I just heard the news
There’s another illness lurking
Now I’m really confused
The doctor said that you have pneumonia
Now what are we supposed to do?
Lord, please help us; you’ve got to relieve the pain
She’s always been such a good girl
It’s there something you can do to pull us through this rein?
Of terror that’s quickly taken over
If I could do it myself, I would
Maybe all I need is to find a four leaf clover
And make a wish that this was only a dream
That you’re really not as bad off
As the doctors want it to seem
You’ll be home soon all you need is a little rest
I think God is trying to put you through another test
To see if you’re strong enough to handle the task
But why couldn’t he see how tired you were
So that we would have to ask
Him he reasons for torturing you
I thought you already proved yourself
And you were on your way to a speedy recovery?
But now all hope is lost and your illness is no longer a mystery

Please Wake Up

Brothas and Sistas please help me understand
Why are we trying to destroy our own native land
Many years ago, our ancestors were tortured and killed
So that our families would have a better place to live
It’s not the other races that’s the root of our problems
We’re just too afraid to get off our asses and try to solve them
We need to be held accountable for the things that we’ve done wrong
Instead of pointing fingers and singing the “Blame song”
Majority of our children don’t know how to read or write
And please don’t say it’s because they are not white
We are so caught up on the glamorous things that we see on TV
While our young teens are having babies and spreading VD
I don’t know about you but I’m going to make sure that mine are educated
Because they are the most precious things that I ever created
Although I am so proud to be a beautiful Black African American
I am going to need some help to save this precious land
Don’t get mad for the things that I say
I just know that we can all live a better way
Although you feel that the government is smiling in our face
I want you to remember, that we are the ones destroying our own race
So don’t blame this on the other nationalities
Please wake up because this is part of our realities

The Right Road

I don’t need a man to define me
Because I am already a strong African Queen

Cause there isn’t a road that I haven’t went down
Except for the road that made me frown

It was that road that led to the Devil
So I hurried up and got off that level

I stayed focused straight ahead to Believer’s Ave
Because that is the road that led to the right path

As I strolled by, I heard a voice that said
You are my child because you didn’t get misled

And you didn’t think twice nor did you have to guess
And for that my child you will be truly blessed

My Best Friend

You are always there for me, when I'm laughing or crying
Even when I tell you that I feel like dying
You always tell me that things will be all right
Whether it's over the phone or if I were in your sight
Whenever I have a problem
You are always there to help me solve them
I love your parents for bringing you into this world
Because you are truly a very special girl
Whenever my back was up against the wall
You are the one that I would always call
Remember when we used to sleep all day
And hang out all night?
the one thing I can say is;
We never had one single fight
You are always ther for me when I am feeling sad
Even when I feel; like doing something really, really bad
If I had to do this all over again
I will still choose you to be my 'Best Friend'

Happy Again

My heart is aching because it’s full of pain
Because I know what we had will never be the same

I prayed to the Lord and asked him if he would make things right for me
Then my baby came back in the still of the night to thee

He held me in his arms and kissed me on my forehead
Then he took his clothes off and laid next to me in my bed

I was happy again so I cried happy tears
Then my baby told me that he was there to take away my fears

He made me a promised that he would never leave me again
And then he gave me a ring and told me that he didn’t want us to live in sin

Then he said that he wanted me to have his name
Thank you Lord for everything, I will no longer live my life in vain

Not Running Game

You act as if I don’t exist and you still persist
To play games with my heart, so I can’t give you a new start
Cause my heart is aching because it’s full of pain
And if I did that it will not be the same
So I sit and wonder and ask the question why
Did I think that you were the right guy?
But do you really think that I didn’t know what was going on
Brotha you must be stupid, cause you are dead wrong
See, I’m not a dummy but I can act dumb!

You should have figured that out, when I didn’t give you none
I know you didn’t think that I was much smarter than that
Oh I forgot to tell you, that your lines are really whack
I just played along, just to see what you were about
You can ask anybody, boy I do have a lot of clout
Now you’re the one who’s looking like a fool
I know you wished that you would have stayed in school
So the next time you think that you are running game
Just remember me, so the ending won’t be the same

Dear Grandma

When I am down and feeling blue
I know that I can always count on you
You hear my laughs and you hear my cries
You even helped me wipe those tears
from my weeping eyes

I'll always love you now and forever
For keeping me and my siblings together
You held down two jobs and worked every day
so that we could have a place to stay

There was never a problem that was too big or small
You did whatever you had to do so that our family wouldn't fall
Even though there wasn't a grandpa
I want you to know, that I will always love you grandma

You are truly the best woman I know
And no matter what the others might think
I will always love you so

Anywhere

This world we live in is filled with so much sin
And no matter what we do we will never win
Even though the police sometimes create a hostile situation
It’s not just in Detroit; it’s all across the nation

There is even black on black crime
At the drop of a dime
That people are trying to move some where peaceful
So they can be happy and joyful

But it could happen wherever you go
And yes, even in Boise Idaho
