Seasons

Spring is rain, covered in rain.
Blooming flowers and sinus pain.
Need a jacket? Or break a sweat?
No one knows, you take that bet.

Summer is a dreadful time.
Clothing options are borderline crime.
Kids are a bored, dirty mess.
Every bug is in excess.

Autumn has the perfect weather,
And plenty a social get-together.
Kids are back to school, and clean.
Colorful trees paint the best scene.

Winter has the fewest bugs.
And who can resist the fireplace rugs?
Everyone’s clothed, the air is clear.
And best of all, Christmas is here!

The Enemy Inside

You tell me I’m not good enough,
And that I’ll never be.
All my talents fall too short,
For anyone to see.
You tell me I’m too stuck inside,
A mind filled with clutter.
No one wants to be with me,
My life is in the gutter.
So quick are you to find my faults,
Mistakes you don’t forget.
My life goals unattainable,
That’s your highest bet.
To remove you from my life,
Would be the correction.
The problem with that theory,
Is you’re my reflection.

Stop

You know those people you hate for their looks?

Well here's something to put in your books...

We're all made the same below the surface.

We've all got dreams, and visions, and purpose.

We're fighting about what flag we can wave.

Just another excuse to misbehave.

At the end of the day, you've got one life.

Why would you want to fill it with strife?

Love for our families, and blood in our veins.

You'd better get that hate by the reins.

All birthed from a mother, and we're all going to die.

Are you prepared to answer the Guy in the sky?

Toys of Yesterday

Stained with little fingerprints,
echoed laughter of children's past.
Toys that were once longed for...
outgrown, forgotten, outcast.

Swing that once swayed piggy tails,
untamed leafage it only sways.
A trustee superhero...
the day, no longer, he saves.

In children that once loved you,
a more creative mind you bloomed.
Imagination needed...
these children, so well, you groomed.

Precious toys of yesterday,
by little hands no longer touched.
Precious toys of yesterday,
through you, they learned, so much.

Outdoors

I love to be outdoors,
but hiking, I don't commit.
I'll pick the cushy swing,
for my lazy butt to sit.

Umbrella drink in hand,
but lacking the umbrella.
When my life reminds me,
I'm fine without a fella.

Under the old maple,
where my cushy swing does fit.
I really take a chance,
with the bug bites and bird...poop.

With my trustee Schnoodle,
that will never leave my side.
I love to be outdoors,
It's where I feel alive.

The Painted Lady

She lives in my mind,
though I cannot see her face,
          the lady I paint.

Me In a Rhyme

Underneath it all, boys seem the same.
And I’m not interested in playing their game.
One of the most offensive to me…
“We should go out, cause you’re pretty.”
Don’t get me wrong, compliments are good.
But there’s a whole lot more under this hood.
Sarcasm and wit are mostly my quirks.
Which I personally find to be my best perks.
I like to dance, but twerking I do not.
I’m more of a sprinkler and a robot.
Half naked pictures of me you won’t find.
I don’t see the need, I have a mind.
I am defiant; don’t tell me what to do.
That pair you hate, just became my favorite shoe.
My house is quite messy, I like to hoard.
I have two children that never leave me bored.
All in all, that’s me in a rhyme.
So don’t even try it, if you ain’t got the time.
Maybe one day the aliens will near,
And I’ll find the true love that I couldn’t find here.

A Single Mom

A single mom, no one wants to be.
But there came a time, when there was only three.
For a brief while, I moped about.
Then I sucked it up, and did without.

I made a promise to you right then.
I'll be by your sides til the very end.
Day by day, we'll take this quest.
In my mind, you deserve only the best.

So smart and creative, you've both become.
More proud I couldn't be of either one.
My princess and knight, you'll always be.
I can't wait for you to grow old with me.

I hope that you will never say...
"My single mom, did okay."
But instead, you will shout with a voice filled with sound..
"My single mom, is the best around!"

The Circus of Freedom

This land of the free,
a circus it's become.
Freedom to argue,
and offend everyone.

A world that's full of,
"What's in it for me?"
Mouths are so busy,
that eyes cannot see.

Murderers, rapists,
taken care of in prison.
While our veterans,
struggle for a living.

Trees and animals,
get pro bono defense.
While a human life,
is a convenient dispense.

Criminals cry "victim",
police seen corrupt.
How long do we let,
this volcano erupt?

Priorities skewed,
a world in despair.
The question remains..
Are we beyond repair?

Back To School Round 2

As sure as the sun rise,
A new school year begins.
Late sleeping is over,
Except for weekends.

Middle school has arrived,
For my sweet Arlyn dear.
For my fearless Austin,
Second grade is here.

With every year passing,
The brighter you become.
You're growing so fast,
Pretty soon you'll be done.

Good luck to my darlings,
On the very first day.
And the rest of the year,
Like a dragon you'll slay.
