The Circus of Freedom

This land of the free, a circus it's become. Freedom to argue, and offend everyone. A world that's full of, "What's in it for me?" Mouths are so busy, that eyes cannot see. Murderers, rapists, taken care of in prison. While our veterans, struggle for a living. Trees and animals, get pro bono defense. While a human life, is a convenient dispense. Criminals cry "victim", police seen corrupt. How long do we let, this volcano erupt? Priorities skewed, a world in despair. The question remains.. Are we beyond repair?

Katie, you summed it up. We have like ideas and speak the same language. Pessimist that I am I fear your last line really sums it up. If you are so inclined, please see my poems: The Edge, Samsara, and Little Boy. You will see how we think alike. Very good submission. I enjoyed reading it and had this tremendous sense of, "See, I'm not the only one...".
