Debra L Brown Poem
*
Up until the summer of 1999, I only knew of the words "Jesus."
I knew what was being taught in church.
As I sat in the pew, I heard the Bible being read.
Words with empty meanings, blowing in the wind.
I used to listen to the pastor read from the Bible every Sunday.
Prayer and an alter call conclude the service.
Anyone who wishes to confess is welcome to do so.
Give Jesus your heart and He will heal you."
Even still, none of this mattered. It was just words.
I'd read my Bible because that's what I was taught to do.
It was pointless and perplexing.
"What is the point?" I'd ask God some nights as I closed the Bible.
It was the summer of 1999 and my mother had recently died.
My family is from North Carolina's Bible Belt.
Their way of life was always centered on "God and Family."
I was sitting in church, listening to the preacher read 1 John 1:9.
Jesus chose my grieving and tender heart.
As He spoke softly to me for the first time,
The words from the Bible came to life.
"Come unto me, all that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Years of hearing the Bible being read are now being spoken.
"Come! Repent!! I am the way, the truth, and the life. "
I felt the warmth and love of Jesus.
It was a peace that surpassed all understanding.
I felt a love I never knew as tears filled my eyes.
I'm sorry, Lord. I know I'm broken.
My soul is bankrupt and my morals corrupt.
Jesus, you know my heart and everything I've done.
Forgive me, Lord. I know I'm a sinner.
I was born this way. Heal my spirit.
Tears ran down my cheeks as I felt this heavy burden.
I've been carrying around ; now lifting.
There was a total internal peace that came over me.
A sinner who came to church that day left with a new heart.
I understand what it means to "be born again".
God has restored my spirit, and I can communicate with Him.
My life has changed with each passing day.
My hunger for the Bible grows stronger.
I want to know everything there is to know about God.
I have the Holy Spirit to assist me in comprehending.
I'll never forget the moment I dedicated my heart to Jesus.
That was the beginning of my new life.
Life will always be filled with trials and tribulations.
"I will never leave thee nor forsake thee," Jesus promised.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Philippians 4: 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
John 3: 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born
when he is old? can he enter the second time
into his mother's womb, and be born.
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he
cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Hebrew 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be
content with such things as ye have:
for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake
thee.
ROMANS 10: 17 SO THEN FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING
BY THE WORD OF GOD.

Debra L Brown Poem
**
I awoke this morning to birds singing.
The dead silence that's been heard all winter.
Now the harmonious sounds of life, as birds sing,
Sing about the new beginnings of life.
God has sent His life's messengers to make known.
It's time to wake up my beloved earth.
The sun was different as its rays were brighter.
The warmth caresses every part of the ground.
Warmth has taken the place of the bitter, freezing rain.
The dead coldness now has a chance of life.
Sprinkles of green now emerge from the ground.
As God ushers in a fresh season of life known as spring.
I heard the sounds of birds singing.
They are announcing the birth of their young.
This morning I walked down a long and winding path.
The garden path, that leads to many old friends.
Daffodils greeted me as I continued down the trail.
The trumpets, which are bright yellow and white, symbolize "rebirth."
The little rays of sunshine bob their heads in greetings.
They smile and tip their heads, "Spring Welcomes You."
I look across the garden at a sea of smiling faces.
Their velvet petals change colors in the sunlight.
The pansies are like children in spring.
As their angelic faces glow with sweet innocence.
God looked down on His spring garden and smiled.
The scent of lilacs fills the warm air.
The colors of pinks, purples, and whites are filled with life,
Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds make for a spectacular sight.
I look at the cherry blooms and magnolias' showy colors.
Pinks and whites combined into a spray: "A queen's delight."
The bittersweet aroma and lemony scent now sear in my mind.
A spicy scent is released as the warm sun and gentle breeze combine.
A bright red cardinal sings, "Cheer, cheer, cheer; an angel is near."
The caretakers of God's spring garden rejoice as they toil with delight.
If you listen closely, you will hear them sing as the wind blows.
They sing in pure delight as God touches each flower with His hand.
As I neared the end of the garden path, tulips stood tall, waving in the wind.
A sea of colors, reds, yellows, and purples are happy to see me.
I smile in delight as each one has something to say about the garden.
I turned to leave; a sign reads, "Heaven on Earth" ~ God

Debra L Brown Poem
Spring
arrived
Robin lands.
singing! "Tut-Tut"
Wake up! Daffodils
Tulips, come up!
Where are you?
appear
Bloom
Sun
Warm rain
Brings forth life.
Pansy's bright smile
Vernal Equinox
Budding trees, leaves
Nesting birds
Hatchlings
Chirp
Grass
ripples
In the breeze
Lilacs woo bees.
Vivid lavender
butterflies flock
Mesmerized
fragrance
Spring

Debra L Brown Poem

Spring comes early,
when you live on a farm.
There's new born life,
and sounds in the barn.
Silas, the rooster,
was clucking and crowing.
Come! Come! See,"
"I have something worth showing."
The hens were gossiping,
and clucking a song.
Running to see,
Whatever was wrong?
The horses were alerted,
the sheep were too.
The cows in the fields,
you can hear their "M-O-O-O-S".
Now that the animals,
have all gathered round.
"Tell us, Mr. Silas,"
"Whatever have you found?"
Before this charming old rooster,
could make a sound.
You heard the cries in the corner,
Oh! were they loud!
Up popped a head,
as cute as can be.
Oh! No, I think that,
maybe there's three.
It seems that the farmer's Collie,
by the name of Miss Kate.
She had her puppies in the barn,
last night around eight.
"Oh! Miss Kate! Your puppies,
are as precious as can be."
"Whatever will you name them,
"Your litter of three".
"Thank you! Very kindly,"
"Please! meet my pack of three. "
"Willa, Grace, and little Elliot Kate,"
"I'm as proud as I can be of my little family."
The animals left, happy,
and wished them all well.
Except for Mr. Silas,
he has a new story to tell.
Yes, spring comes early,
when you live on a farm.
There's new born life.
and sounds coming from the barn.

This New Year has been foretold.
Your future is at hand.
God knows the fate and outcome
of each and every man.
God has chosen the narrow road.
His wisdom is leading the way.
His great strength can carry your load.
His compassion you will feel every day.
With a new dawn over the horizon,
and the Lord to lead the way,
you can spread your wings like an eagle
and soar through every day.

Debra L Brown Poem
I saw a little Cardinal
setting in a tree.
I said to that little red bird
"Why have you come to me?"
He flew a little closer
and let out a great big "chirp"!
I'm a messenger sent from heaven
and from those who have passed on.
I hope this brings you blessings
and great peace in your heart
because,God heard your grieving prayer
and your loved one is at rest.
At that very moment
my heart was at peace.
Because, God sent this little bird
in my time of need.
Now if you see a Cardinal
listen closely to his song.
It might be the answer to your prayer
sent by the Lord above.

warm summer evening
bright, lovers moon smiles fully ~
gray sky, downy clouds
gazing at the moon
sweethearts share moments in time ~
soft, doting embrace
distance sounds of ships

Winter and spring had a fight.
We had 4 inches of snow late last night.
The tulips and daffodils are covered in snow.
Cold winds and temperatures above zero.
Their dear mother said, "You two better play nice!"
"Do not cross me or you'll pay the price."

I sent a rose to you today.
I hope you didn't mind.
I left it with the Archangel.
who was standing just outside.
I left a note upon it.
signed, "To My Valentine,"
The simple words were blurred.
From the tears that I could not hide.
You have enriched my life with laughter.
and made the sun to shine.
I love you and I miss you.
Signed, your Valentine.
Sometimes when my heart is heavy,
and these tears I can't avoid,
I would rather have loved you for a moment.
than to have an empty void.
Please save a place for me, my love.
If you wouldn't mind,
Remember that I love you.
Signed, your Valentine.
