This scar of mine

                        There is a scar
                          On my face
                            Small, steadfastly placed
                              One only notices if they are this close
                                 To kissing my soul
                                   On my cheek
                                      Below the eyes and sideways
                                         Beside the bubble-gum sweet
                                           Mouth, vivacious story teller
                                            like an upside down
                                              sharp angled  half moon
                                               The endless emotions of my sky
                                                 So attractively rough
                                                   It attacks the delicate features of my face
                                                    Allowing my streetwise beautiful
                                                      Personality
                                                      To shine through, I don’t hide thetruth
                                                        It’s as plain as the scar on my face
                                                         Life isn’t ugly, you make it that way
                                                          Some days I wish it wasn’t there
                                                          But I always
                                                          Appreciate it’s presence
                                                          I won’t ever forget
                                                        When I received
                                                       The blow to my vanity
		            From a fight over youthful yearnings
                                                     Inside this
                                                   Is my learning processes
                                                Scars hold history
                                             I shall carry with me
                                         Through tough times
                                        Soft and easy, peaceful
                                      To remind me
                                    Of me

                                         PATCHES OF GREEN GRASS

                                  AT THEM AS THEY STARTED TO BLOW

    ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Bubbling rainbows mottles on air,
In ebullience, the sky dresses you in flair
Your special day and most glorious time is here
I’ll perform a ballet for you in a very joyful cheer

Let’s swirl our hips and dance in a snappy tap
Like the time when you were born, one’s joy was on top
I sing a song with gratefulness for all these years
You are our great joy, a precious gift---so dear

Sending you my most melodious birthday serenade
You’re a loving celebrity in graceful promenade
Like a frisky petal wafting its scents on air
Forever blooming in an inevitable passing of years

Fragrant flowers sways in the most delightful fun
Larks and wrens choir like no more setting of the sun
Their sweetest songs are my crews for my best wishes
Heading all to your way with my warm hugs and kisses

May all your days be filled with vibrant smiles
May you gather all your stars far lesser than miles
May you be filled with God’s love and care throughout the years
As joys and blessings climb down for you from Heaven’s Stairs

The Eternal Tree

I am Alive Forever and always Essence Rebirth Renewal
          I have earth to ground me I have wind to move me I have fire to cleanse
     my spirit I have rain to quench my thirst for growth
                      I have sun to enlighten me feed me I am my own mother
              and an extension of the whole I am Earth wind
                       rain sun fire I am as old as life and I am as young
   as time I am shelter to those who seek me I am a bird a flower and the breath
              of the earth itself I am exactly where I want to be I am life
       I am first and last the beginning and the end I am one from many
                        I am what I am I live I grow and I die. I am Reborn unto myself
                                                          I am the great circle
                                                           My limbs know no

                             Saliferous breezes flurry above me and wild surfers

 bewitching dance of magnificence. Sea horses hide and dolphins spin, to my resplendent
embrace, melting like lava from a dorsal fin. Symmetrical, the radiance that shines, as noon
time orbs drip a legacy of glory. Matchless, and noble, I stand and tower. Whispers of an
astonishing story. I am so driven, and deep blue, clear. Infused with the motions I pave.
  Falling tenderly back to the sea, with one last perpetual wave.

F-5 Tornado

The warm temperature drops outdoors,
    And first drops of fresh rain sprinkle.
      The thunder claps right above me,
         As lightening is striking afar.
         Dust is blowing in the wind,
         Trees are bending fiercely,
            A train horn blares,
              As the core nears me.
              Then sudden silence,
             A calm reappears.
              Electrical fires start,
               For a moment one
            Thinks it’s over,
             Then it starts
              Again quickly.
                 Passing by my
                Home taking
                 My neighbors,
                  Tin flying by,
                   The tornado
                      Fades, look
                         At all the
                            Damage.
                                 And I

                                                           d.

My poem is about Tornadic weather and evokes
Water in, 'first drops of fresh rain sprinkle'
Wind in, 'Trees are bending fiercely'
Earth in 'Dust is blowing in the wind'
Metal in 'Tin flying by'
Fire in, 'Electrical fires start'

Feeling in 'The warm temperature drops outdoors'
Smell in 'First drops of fresh rain sprinkle'
Taste in 'Dust is blowing in the wind'
Sight in, Lightening is striking afar'
Hearing in 'A train horn blares'

                                                      made all by hand

                                                      a beacon - of light

                                                     slender  and white

                                                     burning so brightly

                                                    in a window tonight

                                                    there in the stillness

                                                    whispering a prayer

                                                    into the midnight air

                                                    In a flickering  flame

                                                    spelling  your name

                                                   until I find you again

                                                   there in the darkness

                                                  on a bloody battlefield

                                                  lying in the frozen rain

                                                  wounded crying in pain

                                                 and in a flickering flame

                                                 again I spell your name

                                                 A spark  of  recognition

                                                 ignites your lonely eyes

                                                 as you reach out to me

                                                Your hope and your love

                                                your light and  your wife

                                               here to comfort you tonight

The echoes of that day,
Choke the flow of moving on.
Tattered memories...encased,
...of loved ones who have forgone.

We miss our sons and daughters,
But the Good Lord called them home.
We must embrace Thy course of time,
For the winds of change have blown.

Though America still weeps,
We’re still the home of the brave.
I’m proud to be from this land,
Where the flag still proudly waves.

PINNACLE

Top Of the Mountain, I keep climbing. Reaching for another Stone, a rock, to hold to. I dig in deeper, a strong foothold. Pulling myself to the pinnacle that waits, Waiting for me there at the top of the mountain I just keep climbing, knowing the view is worth the work. Knowing when I reach the top I will find you there waiting. I will look upon your landscape and I will know life is worth the climb. No matter the mountain, no matter the obstacle, life is worth the struggle. As I climb, I know I will make it to the top, because I have faith in myself that I will. For contest. Pinnacle. Her Stilettos

.    The sound of
   Stilettos         coming   home.
  The echo                            reverberates
 In the empty hall,
My heart
Salivates,
And my soul
Is at pure    ease
To know             that
Its soul                   mate
Has come                    home.
In the                              morning
 Stilettos                                 make
  Deep                                         sounds
   Of their                                            lone
    Departured                                         echoes.
      My                                                         mind
        Yearns                                                     and
         Waits                                                         for
           The                                                           sound to                    return.
            The                                                            satisfying sound  of   resounding
              Steps from the one I love to satisfy
                Step their way down the long corridor.
                  The countdown begins after the evening news
                    I like to wait and listen to the beauty of
                     The last 10 steps reciting their poems in taps
                      In a rhythmic sequence of poetic bliss.

A Totum Pole Ode

.

                                      forever           gazing
                                           cold,    blazing
                                              eyes in the
                                              sky, where
                                             wings of the
                           grain, have weathered many rains….
                                            ~~~~~~~~~~~
 deep, fluid etchings, carved in the wood, stetching high over the hood of earth…
   a thunderbird’s wings, perch a lofty plateau, above a graveyard of tales long ago…
     over years, the curious swell, enchanted by spell of legends dwelling here
                                   emerging from gold lands
                                          so far and near
                                          skin and bones
                                    through windswept loam
                                     thick with thistles,
                                    with courage and fear
                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                                   a river on their back
                                    and a cloak of home
                                  draped across shoulders
                                       in a world unknown
                                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      tears ran rivulets on the white man's ground
                   drenched with forgiveness, from a crying sun
                    and the eyes of time, from a tribe now gone
                                          ~~~~~~~~~~~
                                 as wind spins, curls, and winds
                                           around the spine
                                            ~~~~~~~~~
                                   of native vines... unfolding
                                          old tribal codes
                                             ~~~~~~~~
                                             ~~~~~~~~
                                             ~~~~~~~~
                                         stories are told with
                                        each turn of the pole...

                                        in the totum pole ode

CHRISTMAS TREE POETRY

Run freely, easily, bare feet in field. Flowers smelling sweetly. Many a treasure lies concealed. Only on close inspection it will yield sun drenched nooks and crannies of unexpected fun. Under craggy rock, verdant glade revealed flora and fauna sceptre wield. Satisfaction barely. Weary soul healed completely. Merely run! I am in a trance Pont Neuf Allons-y! Bises-moi, monadorée! jangling amulets sold at market moths flit in the gathering dusk – a belfry of bats feasts the smell of the sea is overpowered by the watermelon fragrance of newly mowed lawn the cherry blossoms wither in morning sun – green buds appear bowls of chipped enamel singing loudly - rain brought us huddling together for warmth. My heart rips as in an icy gale while your joyful smile melts the pale. spring blossom lavender scented morning flowers are nodding in breeze at window Cherry blossom stones reveal core beauty, reminder of transient spring. trees laden I have yearned the last colour Pink Lady encapsulating autumn milk bottles in a huddle on the step – a blue tit pecks the foil dusty windowpanes protect against the wind chill – raindrops streak the view The lit candle flickering in darkening room, casts shadows formerly unseen; amplifying the sinister darkness around me, which makes me wonder if it is the light I’m seeking, or the comfort of ignorance? blush gazing out at gilded statues flashing heritage The City Of Lights reflected mesmerise the Seine is sparkling like your blue eyes I can’t tear my gaze from your sensual kissable mouth My thoughts gallop in a sea of confusion. Reality swims at the ocean’s edge of consciousness.
A collage of my poetry over the past 3 years. Happy Christmas to PoetrySoup. ~Su

Impact

She birthed me a star...
Her inner galaxy well travelled.

Seized by womb impact...
Silence - Rattled

Tone tormented yet blissful sigh...

Return to the source - yield rescue the cry...

Triumph this claim as we draw near...
Partake in this memory...

We both share.
