The Heart of My Story

Sometimes it's the small things in life that make us sit back and reflect on our life It is from the good night kisses, hugs or from some silly wishes It's in the silly jokes or in the fun your siblings poke It's about the fun times no matter how small It's those very special times you recall It's in the hard goodbyes When all you want to do is cry Or it is in the joy of going home No matter how far you have roamed It's about the precious memories and treasured moments had It's recalling the happy moments and the sad It's in the special grandparents, mom and dad And the proud moments that made them glad It's in the happy moments of joy When you are given a little boy It's in the joy of knowing who we are So whether we are spread near or far It is in the family circle we put our trust And the heart of my story will always be my family

Your love for your family is well displayed in this joyous verse, Phyllis! The last line tells me why you enjoyed "Crosses on Canopy Roads." Thank you for reading and sharing your work as well. I've read quite a few of your poems now, and you obviously have a gift! Carolyn

Phyllis - This poem is so well said, I liked the lines, "Or it is in the joy of going home - No matter how far you have roamed" these lines speak to my soul for that is my story. Great job on this poem hon - always with my love God Bless, MJ

Phyllis, this was so touching and so beautifully written I teared up at the end. Such truth here. Yes, the little things and the big things, all centered around our family are absolutely the most important. That last line, is a well said tribute to the love family shares. Of course, the whole poem is. We are lucky those of us who are able to feel this way. You have touched me deeply with your words. So well written. Love, Shar
