Fading Dream

I’ve loved her dearly since my childhood days Watching her subtle movements under the sun’s hot rays She was sheer beauty when calm and warm And magnificent in the eye of the storm She lured me with her magic charms To far away places and a woman’s arms To mysterious places and exotic sights Under the Southern Cross, romantic nights She reached inside me and touched my soul She took my life and made it whole The longing for her, my heart retained A fading dream is what remained I still dream of sailing her waters once more As I stand alone along her shore.

Dear Vincent - A sonnet that is quite eloquent and subtely dreamy - with touches of romance and melancholy. I rarely do this but - this is one for my favorities list. Beautifully expressed. Peace always, John

Dear Vince: Very beautifully written. Thanks for reading my Destiny, and other poems. Destiny is from the very depths of my heart and soul, although not originally wrote for my new love, but the feelings are still the same. I do believe in Destiny, don't you? Much Love, Janice Herzog xoxo

yes, the sea can really move us can't it.. I appreciate your suggestion on the man in the moon - yes I never thought that perhaps Venus would welcome his cold hands, or he could get a slap! LOL!

Lovely Sonnet Vince. I love the personification you give the sea, it gives it warmth, connection, the ability to love you back, even. I've missed your writing, always so masterful. Missed you too, of course. :D

Vince your passion for the sea truly shines throughout the beautifully penned lines of this write. I was raised by the ocean, even though I now live by a pond, the swimming, sailing and fishing is just not the same as that of the ocean blue. Thank you for sharing such a marvelous read. God's Love and Many Blessings, Always, Adell

You got me on this one Vince. But even though I have not had the experience of the seas I had lakes in my day that can be described in similar words. God Bless, Cile

You do indeed have a beautiful love affair with the sea. I think you should plan to sail at least once a year. It will not be the same, but the sea is always the sea. It may just give you that fix you need. Your enchantment is evident in this awesome Sonnet. Excellent write. Love, Shar

I had dreams of a young child of sailing the seas and seeing the world, then coming back home to write about it, but never did. This was a warm, and peaceful piece of poetry. thank you for reading my Another Solider fell today and for your comments.
