A Walk In the Snow

Far from the town and its bustling throng knowing just where to go, Sister and I are walking along a pathway in the snow. Down by the lake and over a fence are hungry ducks and geese. To their clamor we give audience, watching their flock increase. Off comes my ****, for I have brought what they love to be fed. I hold out my hand then as I squat to toss them crumbs of bread. Those ducklings and geese can’t get enough, but new snow fills the sky. My frozen hand goes back in my ****, for no more crumbs have I! For the Let it Snow Contest Based on the first picture: George Dunlop Leslie's Winter Walk

Andrea What a cute and charming little story of a nice day with the birdies until the snow ruined it. Bad ol' snow. LOL Thank you for the wonderful comment on my Black Hole poem. Hugs

Used to go and feed the Canadian geese down at the park. Did it when the boys were small but have not been there in a while to see the new ducklings. Made me think of years past. Will try and catch up on the month of Jan. on your poems. love phyl

"Muff" LOL! Fantastic word choices in this piece. It made me reminisce about my parents houseboat. There were always lots of ducks that hung around the dock and I loved to feed the flock, feeling them lightly pinching my hands as they ate from them. Thanks for the pleasant trip down memory lane with this excellent poem :)

I love this! It is so rhythmic. It begs to be memorized and recited over and over. Can I teach it to my little granddaughter?

Well this certainly sounds like a much nicer winter day than we're having here today in minnesota. Record low highs of -8 below. Wishing I was a goose. I'd certainly vacate the area. Enjoyed your beautiful day. Peace. :)

I liked this one up until the very last line. For some reason the last line feels awkward. Perhaps it is just me. Either way I enjoyed your poem.

I like to feed ducks myself. Also, occasionally pigeons. I recently read a life of Jack London. It was quite stimulating, Best Matthew Anish

We have an area withing walking distance which is located on the bank of Bayou Lafourche, and there are ducks galore. The best fed ducks in the world, for there is always someone there tossing them bread. You poem so reminded me of it, and I think I'll go there tomorrow with bread for the duckies. Your poem was very good and I liked the rhyming pattern.
