Happy Birthday Jenny (Kyrielle Sonnet)

Happy birthday to you Jenny
Hope your big day brings you plenty
Keep a bright smile all the way
Your mom sings your praises today

Soon you will be driving to school
Don’t forget to follow the rules
Enjoy your day with a buffet
Your mom sings your praises today

Happy birthday to you Jenny
Don’t forget to save your pennies
Wish on a star on your great day
Your mom sings your praises today

Happy birthday to you Jenny
Your mom sings your praises today

This is for the the daughter of our own poetess, Kathy.

The Kyrielle Sonnet is a French form from the Middle Ages. It has 14 lines (three
rhyming quatrains and a non-rhyming couplet). It has a repeating line or phrase
as a refrain in the last line of each stanza. Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet
has eight syllables. There are times when a French poem links back to the
poem’s beginning; therefore, a common practice is to combine the first line of
the first quatrain and the refrain in each quatrain as the ending couplet for the

My Birthday Blues

I grew with my brother
Birthday parties we shared
I was the elder
By 3 days and one year

Mostly board games we got
To play with together
Instead of presents for one
like others did get

Into our teens the parties remained
With him on one side
And me just the same
The regime for presents still hadn’t changed

Finally now older
As young men did we part
As individuals
Alone do we start

I cherished my birthdays
With me as the king
Not having to share
For me a world could now sing

Although for our family
October’s a busy month
We have mine, my nanna’s
And my younger bloods

With a sigh I accepted
What was my fate
Those 3 days
Are just 2 other dates

I lived with this through
My soon to be 46 years
Not a worry had I
As My date soon appeared

Until this morning some poet
Has stolen my news
Another birthday I’ll share
With another muse

I scarcely believe what my eyes have read
Those three days now before
although still haunt my head
You see after all this
My birthdays the 10th

(My brothers is the 13th)

Smile Its Your Birthday

it seems like an eternity
since ive seen ur smile
the fact that uve been gone
still has me in deep denial

a lot of stuff has happened
since ur smile left this earth
gatherings, eagles losing, parties
life changes and brooklyns birth

a lot of people miss u greatly
n think about u everyday
our last picture together
on my dresser it will stay

ur deep voice, ur humor, ur kindness
is what i tend to miss the most
ur passing forever broke my heart
but our memories i hold close

i must admit, i did hit rock bottom
drugs n alcohol i used to cope
i took ur passing very hard
i started to give up hope

but i looked into brooklyns eyes
n caught a glimpse of u
u probably would have kicked my ass
sober now i stay true

mom also met a fine fella
u actually would approve
no need to kick this guys ass
hes good to her n the kids to

madison is so smart n beautiful
byron is turning into a handsome man
there both striving so well
u should be a very proud dad

two of ur friends got engaged
there so cute n its exciting news
i hope they live a life of happiness
i know u would feel the same to

ur brother misses u the most
hes coping the best he can
he misses u as much as i do
he was ur biggest fan

ur neighbors n friends
also stop by ur page
reminiscing about the good times
the laughter n good chatter ud engage

thank-god for all the music
its a good way to deal with pain in life
cause without u here with us
its like eating steak without a knife

im over trying to understand
i feel ur in a happier place
you had ur own reasons
your demons u finally faced

but in a couple days
ur birthday we will celebrate
the big thirty seven u turn
teasing u old man woulda been great

your always in our hearts
in our thoughts forever jay
so while ur up in heaven...
smile...cause its ur birthday :)

My Birthday Suit

My birthday suit is with me each day I take it with me where ever I go Some times it’s covered, but not when I play Some times it’s bare, but not on public show. My birthday suit needs a lift things hang low But exercise helped in this month of May I think I should show it, what do you say? But perhaps not, it has now lost its shine For an iron free suit is what I did pray But my prayers were not answered, well not this time

Happy Birthday II revisited

So, It is your Birthday,Huh!
This isn't really anything that
We want to get out, now
Is it?
We don't want them to start
Talking about you behind
Your back and telling all your
Friends' your business, now do we?
So, let us not try to make such
A big deal about this and I won't
Tell anybody either!
After all, this is your Birthday...
Not mind....

Birthday Glee for Debbie G

  "Birthday Glee for Debbie G."

as I peeked at my calendar today
circled in red it said Debbie's Birthday
so off to shopping mall
to buy her a stress ball
she can squeeze, poke or prod everyday!

remember age is just a number, Debbie dear,
you're getting better year after year
don't worry 'bout being older
you're just wiser and bolder
how about a toast with a big keg of beer!

sending you a surprise first class mail
open immediately, without fail,
magic mirror attracts men
reflects a sexy 5 foot - ten
38-22-34 has great appeal!

then there's a love potion for fun
for a gal whose always number one
as you blow out birthday candles
forget about those "love handles"
when the smoke clears just hurry up and run!

one more little gift to ignite
in a woman's world, perfume's a delight
just one little squirt
you become instant flirt
Deb gets "lucky" on her birthday night!

hope these little treats brought you birthday cheer
with a card saying: "wish you were here"
though miles separate
we'll help you celebrate
with a big hug and kiss and tiny tear!

It's My Birthday, It is Your Birthday

It’s My Birthday

It’s my birthday… I look out the window there is no one for me owe so, owe so lonely poor me .

It’s my birthday… you surprise me, with a Barber-Q grill with a cooler that chills with a grin we show white grills.

Happy Birthday… it’s my Birthday I am still waiting, it is almost the end of my the day, just waiting on you to wish me a happy birthday which, well make my day.

It’s my birthday…you do not remember that day, can we go out for we can remember that day?

It’s my birthday… I can share it or alone, some share it with a twin, or with a friend and the ones who stay to the ends like a good friend.

It my birthday… its looks like another day to me I just need someone or something to comfort with me a room full of women and with hand full men, a juice in cup, juice in glass, with a sweet lady and grill on cut grass that may make every day feel like my birthday, with a touch of class.
It’s your birthday… it’s your birthday you should all-ways win on your birthday, if do not have a mate you sneak and go on second party date form those who may player hate.
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday! it comes and go, I see you come through, looking out my window with a hand full company that is what a party really should need, yes it’s sweet, sweet with music and sweet with treats or it must be the money, or food, or brinks, or just me.

An Ellice Island - In search of KindRed Soul

Long miles of tedious journey,
Missing my darling honey.
Travelling impatiently, spend thousands of
Hope god will bless me with ma lucky soul
at this season.

Equatorial island exploring its amazed
beauty, glittering with immersed grasses.
Wrapped by queens necklaced small lake
aside, at the outskirts of dalhousie.
My heart dwelled into its god gifted
When the night lime lighted,
Millions of stars scattered around
charming moon.
As if its was a wondering boon.
Lucky enough for landing with my next

Eagerly waiting for my heart chaser,
Girl passed near by, few seconds later.
Flaming beauty mould my soul.
Topped with innocence, ready for my
auspicious goal.
Her chic appearance,
Her innocent appeal.
Strucking heart raised with high beats..
Awaited for our romantic date in ma
upcoming meet.

Frequency of our nature matched.
Stolen Eyes of each other were catched.
Strings of our heart whistled
Everything had happened miraclelously.
I rebelled the three precious words of
romantic dictionary.
Accepting my red rose, She blushed.

At event of recreation, campfire were
Nobody around us, private moments
between we two spotlighted.
Playing guitar, she sinked with every beat,
That's the coincidence our eyes again
Hand in hand danced with the soothing
romantic theme,
Sparkling smile on her face beamed.
Getting closer to her, because of her
fragranced cream.
Expecting the light around us to be dim.

The romantic moment again came,
Flaps of my soul opened for the grand
She looked too pretty in her gold lame
My heart awarded her an order of chivalry.
Don't know who are you, but baby you are
the one, I am in love.
You live in me, You are my love
I feel you in my heart,
You are my world, I just cant stay apart!

Please don't hesitate, please don't lie,
Whatever you feel, my heart can buy!
Angel of life, Its just you.
Completeness in life can't be without you.

Wanna Carry journey happily together.
Tickling nose, Queenly beauty of my white
Hold my senses, its caught by you.
Don't let be just memories, wanna feel
ecstasy of love towards you forever.
Promising to hold your hand throughout
life in this lovely weather.

Will be your shadow, because your pain
will be mine.
Its destiny that our heart clicked a
snapshot of each other's soul.
Stopping by my question, Will you marry
me, my Kindred Soul?

Canned Unicorn Meat

Majestic and grand, a wonderous mythical creature, The central horn on their head is the prominent feature. I’m afraid I don’t know much more about the unicorn, But not sending you a birthday wish, I become forlorn. So it seems I don’t have the knowledge to do this write, And so I thought about this problem with all my might, Did some research and found you something really neat, It’s made in County Meath Ireland, canned unicorn meat. Really pleased with myself to achieve such a perfect find, Then I read, you can’t eat the meat ~ just blows my mind. Seems the contents are torn apart stuffed unicorn parts, Imagine someone thinking up this item, they had the smarts. Well Poet ~ Destroyer, wish you the very best birthday, Sorry my poem on unicorns didn’t have more to say. View the ad on its really sweet, And I hope the joys of your Birthday are truly complete.

Debbie's Birthday-Were You There-----Hmmmmm

There's a strange edge to the wind, not right...
I've an inkling that the fire will spread. .... Oh dread!
In the glow as the sky turns a cherry red
Twenty pounds on her hips, from the cake she fed

She threw caution to the wind while she danced tonight
Jumping up on the table, to the crowd's delight
Kicking shoes in the air, with a rose held tight
Smack between, minty fresh, pearly whites...
While the fizz from champagne caused her nose to itch
It pitched her forwards, pitched her backwards....
glass in hand, splashing left, splashing right,
filled again and again...........was it fifth or the sixth?...

What's the diff when your stiff from the fifth of scotch
that was brought by the lot that came in just to watch?
while they cheered and they jeered, it's her right to get tight
It's her birthday, don't you know? can't a girl sow her oats?
But the candles were more than the room could bear
Were you there??? I'll swear.............................................
such a blast from the past........May the fun last and last!!
May she score many more, ...many more,...many more...............................

My Birthday Suit

Birthday comes once in a year
It comes every year of your life
A reminder of the day you came to be
A day you truly know nothing about
But a day you are truly celebrated.

My birthday comes on the seventeenth
I was seventeen on the seventeenth
The day was unique because of the numbers
Got a unique birthday gift from my Dad
My birthday gift a special birthday suit.

On my special suit on my special day
I looked pleasant and radiant
My friends all complimenting my suit
As the birthday boy I reveled in encomiums
I exude the aura of a royal prince.

My friends in their exuberance popped drinks
I was bathed in drinks of different tastes
My birthday suit did come to ruins
My birthday suit just for my birthday
Truly a special gift for a special birthday.

Thanks, BILLYtheKidster!

* Got the funniest singing early birthday card from BILLYtheKidster today and want
to express my appreciation!

Yes, it's true that my hair is turning gray

Do I look in the mirror? No, turn away

The candles on my cake will be ablaze

As my memories just seem to turn to haze

But I'll take the birthday greeting as you intend

'Cause it's great to have such a thoughtful, witty friend!

Your birthday card just left me roarin'

And my spirits now are soarin'

As my bones creak to the melody of age

And Lost My Memory

James's birthday

Happy Birthday your getting old
Never mind we will wear a blindfold
forty six aint that sore
I should know been there before
just failing sight and creeky legs
and we usually get left with the dregs
But hey just wait another few year
Male menopause to look forward to
mid life crisis will arrive
Flashy cars for you to drive
skin tight jeans you will wear
I'll tell heather to prepare
So today your birthday dont be glum
Sit and smile for what's to come
cause forty six aint that bad
Just think of it as a wee launchpad.
By Kate Mcnaughton For her wee brother James. x

For Richard on His Fiftieth

Welcome to the over-the-hill gang.
We're so glad you're finally here.
We know it's a wee bit scary
knowing old age is near.

It's now perfectly acceptable
to be in bed before nine
and of course it's time to substitute
Geritol for wine.

Feel free to bang your walking stick
and scream at young people you see
to turn down their blasted music
before they go deaf as can be.

Eight hours of sleep is long gone,
you'll wake up after just three
for your nightly walk to the bathroom
to have yourself a pee

Young people will call you "sir"
and offer their seat on the bus.
Just smile , sit down and shut up
and try not to make a fuss.

Your eyesight will start to fail
and words will slip your mind.
Put everything right where it belongs
or it's whereabouts you'll never find.

It's really not that bad
getting old ... I mean older.
Don't forget to take a sweater now
as the temperatures seem colder.

Hope I haven't scared you.
Welcome to our little group
and don't forget your fibre
or else you'll never poop.

A Disappointing Present

Details | Birthday Poem |

" The oven is set on three hundred and fifty degrees;
the box of the Pillsbury Yellow cake is still unopened, for George's sake,
the kids are in the living room munching on cheese,
who's going to make the perfect batter for Ricky's birthday cake? "

" If no one volunteers, turn off your iPods and put them away
and come to the kitchen to give a hand...isn't it somebody's birthday?
It would be nice to see one use the mixer, the other greasing the pan...
how many of your friends have you invited? I hope not more than ten! "

And giggling they exchange words, thinking I don't hear their whispering;
I was a teen once and know how they think, but today they won't be laughing!
Hurry, bake the yellow cake...we have only two hours left, they'll be coming soon!
" Mary set the table, everything must look fantastic! No, don't lick the spoon!

The door suddenly opens...twenty five teens come into view and say, " Surprise! "
Hundred of small balloons are released from their hands...their thrill rises.
" Good Heavens! Who are these kids with faces painted like circus clowns? "
Have you asked them to attend this party? Where are the real guests? "

Silence filled the aroma-filled kitchen as they looked downward with embarrassment,
" Are they here to crush your birthday party, Ricky...if they are they will get
a taste of my dough roller right now! " No, mom...they want to throw my birthday cake into my face! " " Have they told you so? Wait here, Ricky...I'll think of a trick."

" Hi, cuties...are you ready to have a cake fight? " Yeah, " was their answer.
" Let's do you want to hear a big mommy's laughter when your eyes will burn? "
The smallest one in the group yelled, " The birthday cake had better taste good
or your red face will turn yellow! " " Little rascal, you'll churn like butter! "

In a second the whole house became a battleground... they hurled cupcakes,
cookies and candies, but they had forgotten about the cake in the oven.
Smoke came out of their ears and noses... mom laughed when they ran
outside as if they had seen a real ghost, " Run for your lives before my dog attacks! "

I am alive
and ready to take on the day
and whatever
may come my way

the time between the beats
with my pace
and the expression on my face

the time of day
is divided
into twenty four hours
with many beats

how many beats
does it take to make the bed
or take a train to work
how many beats
does it take to count the beats
I must count the beats some time
before it's too late

lub-dub lub-dub
lub-dub lub-dub
the heart is a variable metronome
that does not measure time or keep time
it can only keep the beat going
and measure love

lub-dub lub-dub
lub-dub lub-dub
does nothing
does it all

Happy Birthday Dear Carol Brown (Kyrielle Sonnet)

It’s a great day to shake and bake
Dance, sing, and eat all of your cake
It’s time to wear your dinner gown
Happy Birthday Dear Carol Brown

Upon reaching the Big Six O
Spread and stretch on your patio
Wear your fancy dress into town
Happy Birthday Dear Carol Brown

As you puff out the nice candles
Hold tight onto your chair handles
Smile today and let your hair down
Happy Birthday Dear Carol Brown

It’s a great day to shake and bake
Happy Birthday Dear Carol Brown

Comments: Dedicated to my poet laureate friend Carol Brown. The Kyrielle
Sonnet has 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain stanzas and a non-rhyming
couplet). It has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain in the last line of each
stanza. Each line within the sonnet has eight syllables. The French use the first
and last line of the first quatrain as the ending couplet. This reinforces the refrain
within the poem. The rhyming scheme for a Kyrielle Sonnet normally is: AabB,
ccbB, ddbB, AB -or- AbaB, cbcB, dbdB, AB.

Not Another One

I counted all the candles,
Upon my birthday cake;
Surely I don’t need all of them,
There must be some mistake!

They’re melting all the icing,
I cannot blow them out;
For someone with so many candles,
You’d think I’d have more clout!

Let me try to count them one more time,
I’ll group them in clusters of ten;
I burnt my fingers on the wax,
Trying to rearrange all of them.

There’s ten and twenty and thirty of them,
My God how did this happen to me!?
There still are two more clusters left,
And then a group of three.

Who’s idea was it to stick burning candles
On birthday cakes in the first place?
Certainly not someone of my age;
They singed the hair off of my face!

Do you still get your birthday wish
If to blow them out it takes six tries?
I cannot see if my wish came true,
The smoke is in my eyes!

Well, I looked into the mirror
And still look all of 53!
So the answer to the question above,
Is no longer a mystery.

When I was just a youngster
With my birthday coming near,
My family all would ask me
What would you like my dear?

The present didn’t matter
I really didn’t care.
In most cases what they gave me
Was something I could wear.

Then as I got older,
The presents mattered less.
There was nothing much I needed
That’s the truth I must confess.

Now that I’m a senior,
I’ll say this LOUD and CLEAR
The birthday present I want most
Is just for me TO BE HERE!
