A pristine pink petticoat prissily pranced priggishly and primly.
A prideful prima donna prisoner of Peggy’s prideful preteen
promenade....

Premium Member really mommy
Really Mommy? The annoyed preteen kitty cat said.
I am trussed up and there are antlers on my head.
Do not fuss said Mama Cat or you can be the tree.
Stuck with a blinking star and tinsel scratchy to thee....

Premium Member Nothing Makes Her Happy
Nothing could make my sis happy, she is a preteen.
I thought this was weird, awful and pretty much mean.
Until my own sister got to twelve and turned into a preteen.
Then I saw the devil closer than anything I’d ever seen....

Premium Member Sol and His Valentine
Sol was a sincerely sweet preteen with one thing on his mind.
He wanted to impress a sassy female named Louise S. Valentine.
She was not interested but did not want to seem unkind.
She steered him to a friend of hers who thought he was fine....

Premium Member Pinkie
Pink as a baby’s bottom.
Pink as 1960’s Bazooka Bubblegum
Pink as Barbie’s Dream House
Pink as a 1959 Cadillac with chrome tailfins.
Pink as a perky, pretty, popular, pizzazz-y petite preteen.
We nicknamed her “Pinkie” which made her laugh....

Stages of Love
Child feels so drawn,
Liking, befriending.

Preteen feeling so innocently,
Crushing, admiring.

Adolescent feelings of promiscuity,
Attraction, infatuation.

Adult feeling of committing,
Loving, dating.

Soul feelings of destiny,
Promising, marrying....

Premium Member Where I Was In the 1970's
Where you were in the 70's

Wore pink elephant-collar silk shirts
I was preteen, teen young adult
Danced in polyester bell bottom pants
Lived in the center of USA heart lands
Where I was in the 70's
Watching Soul Train
 And American Bandstand
Where I was in the 70's

Excess
Freezer burn is a luxury;
the very notion that food,
plentiful enough
to sit idly in storage
long enough
to become encased in crystal
casually tossed;
no longer within the range
of usefulness

A concept
so completely foreign to me,
unheard of until
as a preteen was mentioned
while visiting a friend.

Changes
Changes

In a world filled with changes each and every day
I feel like I'm judged for what I do and say
I remember back to barbies and play days in the park
When i didn’t worry about other peoples remarks.
But looking in the mirror I see to my surprise,
A completely different person staring deep into my eyes.
The care free little child I saw at four and five,
Has now become a preteen learning to survive....

Premium Member I am an Apache Brave
I am an Apache brave, the preteen rat said.
He had always wanted to be one, this critter, Ed.
Why not a Wyandotte, an Osceola or a Sioux?
This confused the rat, who did not know what to do.

I guess any Indian culture in the USA will be okay.
For I am tired of being a preteen, Ed said right away.
You will still be a preteen, said his wise grandmother.
Don’t worry about it then, just get rid of my brother....

Premium Member Driving Through Salem
Witches motto is to do no harm to plants or animals
Ill understood they continue to positively garden and uplift
They were unfairly persecuted and prosecuted, murdered even
Christians bullied them, jealousy and fear determined their fate
Hysterical preteen accused the prettiest, eliminating competition
Every beautiful girl was in danger during this frenzied period of history
Still feel enraged and acute sadness when I drive through Salem....

Youth
Darkness
That’s all my closed eyes could see while my lips were being captured by an awkward preteen boy.
My bruised lips from nervous biting matched perfectly with his smooth ones. This moment.
Of vulnerability and shyness was his and his only to see.
How new it felt, but not long lasting.
After all, we were just young middle schoolers wanting to get a taste of something sacred and refreshing.
Like fine wine, made only for the best and yearned by the curious ones....
