Threads on Mended Seams

On edge of crevasse
splitting the whole from broken
I waver between—
weaving to escape phantoms
longing for where I belong

I mask all my scars,
with smiles etched on hollow masks
yet memory bleeds
too whole to join the broken
too fractured to pass as whole

To love life anew
to re-forge and re-ignite
requires confession
to those entrenched in shadows
that death now terrifies me

Unfortunately
Tattered become this chapter of life
This longing meandering of an escapade
This confided infidel of mirrored acts
This threadless oath thrown into air
Ever lost in the confines of the past
Buried away under all the laughter
Gambled and scratched like it's lottery
Betting it all in this losing game
Just to tear through at the glass seams
Just to claw at the

With blade sharp tongue his words stung
with the pain felt when funeral hymns are sung.
In a mournful voice, off key of course,
as was his choice in the way he spoke to me.

the dagger that soon would be

trapped,
safeguarded,
each appendage
secured in amber,
some Jurassic specimen
created for your gaze

you regard me
with a quizzical eye,
comb your notes carefully 
for collected data
on my anomalies

how to straighten this limb,
shape this abdomen,
bend this thorax
to fashion the perfect
exemplar of your
scientific prowess

no manufactured artifice
will satisfy you
you deftly maneuver
and rearrange,
cut and reassemble,
manipulating your scalpel
and forceps

until you have your prize,
flawless and complete,

Torn Seams

Carrying the weight of loss...

After all these years,
I still have unanswered questions
ripping me apart.

Trying to repair
an unraveling life.

I don’t know how
to sew, not like you.
 
Needle in the eye,
tears in my pocket.

Stitches rubbing together
break me in two
and I don’t know
what to do.

Turning myself 
inside out over
losing you.

Time cannot heal torn seams.

Sewing Seams

I saw the difference you made
To the barrenness of your mother
Then I saw you poke fun at a worker
Who thought you were a good lover
...of sewing seams

I saw you reach out to a man
Who struggled to sit still
Then, I saw you ask another
To provide him with a decent meal

we heard the strang's of delgrin
and were beamed otta our seat's
it's like booty-booty bomb sh4t!
