Mentoring Poems

The Mentoring of Tumors

Lately, I've cut away hectares of tumors
that engulfed confidence, happiness
self-worth and wellbeing.
With surgery a bit of the good stuff was sacrificed:
A few shallow laughs, some adventure and mostly harmless mischief.

The mirror is filled with scars of the heart
excoriations of spirit
along with other yet to be discovered damage.
Though somewhat deformed, I like my new look.

I Cry For The Children

I cry for the boys who just need to be left to be themselves
To play and explore, take risks and learn the hard way
With peers, and fathers and grandfathers
Getting the role models they need and deserve
From actual males and not the nurturing females
Who are now head of almost half of all households

Like Fall…

the lingering of laughter in the air,
like a silent prayer,
painting the moments, so rare
with joy and hope to share,
stirring love, thus – beware…

Whom to identify? Never you, dear.
Striving to please others means easing yours, I fear.
You vanish, unreachable in the crowd.

But even then, the question remains: is it worth it?
To sacrifice who you are to fit in and submit?

Mentoring Program Feeds

My job was to set up ten mentors for my children at my school. I set up sixteen.
The training was after school yesterday and thirteen showed up. One was excused, one

Therapeutic Mentoring

Educational process,
like any ecosystemic change with progressive intent,
is not only about successfully transferring exegetical traditions
to the next hopefully all-consuming generation.
That may be the more surface half of trans-generational learning,
